Warts

This was the guidance I received each time after seeing a dermatologist and having the wart frozen with liquid nitrogen, which may hasten getting rid of the wart but is not actually necessary to get rid of it.

Freezing with liquid nitrogen is often a treatment, but surgery by a dermatologist is the solution. Painful yet effective.

Shaving of the area periodically helps to prevent regrowth. Use of a pumice stone in the shower helps too!!

I think some people are just more susceptible to the virus that causes warts. Both of my kids swim, and they share a bathroom. Only one of them has an issue with warts. The other kid doesn't get them at all.

Pretty much everyone gets some form of an HPV virus at some point in their lives. You can pick them up pretty much anywhere, some strains can live on surfaces for a week.

All HPV is not equal. Some is awful. Some are deadly.

Labeling it all as just HPV is trying to normalize spreading of disease/stds/filth. The question is, why would you want to do that?

I am confused as to.why you're upset that someone correctly identified it as an HPV virus, because that's accurate. Pretty much everyone gets some kind of wart virus.

Where you get the virus exposure does matter. I know someone who is a health professional who had a terrible complication from HPV inside their nasal cavity caused from their exposure when they burning off warts back in the 80s, not knowing that could put particles of the virus in the air. But your feet aren’t going to cause that.

Kids are likely to get warts on their hands and feet at some point. That's reality. Kids who get warts on their hands and feet are not dirty or gross. It doesn't make you a bad parent to have a kid ypu got warts. But it is a good PSA on why all kids should get the HPV vaccine?

Thank you to the poster who recommended the wart stick from Amazon. My son has gone to the podiatrist repeatedly for treatments with little success, but this worked. It took ~2 months of consistent use, but the warts are almost gone. Thank you for saving me a bundle on copays/coinsurance

I’m the one who recommended it. Just curious if it is gone for good now.

It's not gone entirely - he had a large one and several small ones. The smaller ones are gone, and the largest one is about 85% gone. He's continuing to use the wart stick as it seems to work just as well as the scraping procedures he was getting done at the doctor's office.

Eventually his body should recognize the wart and start attacking it. I very very carefully scraped my son's wart at home to get the salicylic acid deeper into the wart. You have to be really careful doing this.

This is truly the only thing that actually works to get rid of it for good. It's expensive but it really works. My kid's wart hasn't come back and it's been over a year since the last microwave treatment. With 2 treatments it was gone. We had this don't at foxhall podiatry.

Did it hurt?
Cost?

My DS (also a swimmer) had a monster plantar wart on the ball of his foot. Didn’t mention it to us until it started hurting after being there for months. Tried a few things (too large to freeze off) and the only thing that worked was something a pediatrician friend recommended:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Curad-Mediplast-Corn-Callus-Wart-Remover-Pads-25-Count/46111271?sid=4480f82e-0932-4e9b-b15d-abab70f964d4

Had to cut-to-size (just the size of the wart) and reapply every single day. But finally, after about 4 weeks, the entire wart finally fell off and left a gaping hole. It was crazy. As a PP said, you have to keep going for another 10-14 days to make sure you’ve killed it all off. It was highly effective and pretty simple. We applied just before bed everyday and he wore socks to bed to make sure it stayed on. Good luck! Those things are stubborn!

Take it as you will but Amoils h-warts formula has now worked on two outbreaks of warts for us. All gone in a few weeks to a month. Zero pain. You have to be consistent though.

Oh don’t apply with a cotton ear swab as it will waste all the oil. Good luck.

My kid was a swimmer and we had one frozen off on her foot. It took 3 visits and was painful for about 15 secs each visit. Never came back.
