Of course people fawn over those who agree with them. Not novel or worthy of note. I for one do not look around and say "let me find the Palestinian or Arab and see what they think to determine what i should think" about any issue nor do I say "let me find out what a Jewish person thinks"...that kind if patter betray classical Western liberalism. But I guess classical liberalism and objective and scientific social science is dead. We are now just to rely on our feelings and what our ethic group feels. Awful.

I was trying to make a bridge building statement, a friendly gesture. Sheesh.

It wasn't bridge building--you didn't change your mind on anything (not that you have to), you just showed pleasure that someone in a group in which many disagree with you agrees with you. So you sound satisfied. No bridge building happening (not that it has to happen)

She extended you a lot more grace than you deserve.

As you believe. Have a great evening! Enjoy this lovely cool weather!

However, they are both smart AF—Beinart particularly so. Def will listen; TY OP for the link!

While you paddle this drivel, children are starving. Hope the same for you.

When you paddle this drivel, Hamas is continuing the war. Hope the best for you in life!

We can do "I know you are but what am I" all day. So I guess it is your turn, then I will respond. Go!

The Israeli govt has admitted that getting the hostages returned is of no interest or priority to them. I don't know why you continue to think Netayahu cares. Are you naive, or trolling? At least Hamas was willing to negotiate and release them, as Israel chose to break the ceasefire. Because it's not about the hostages. It never was.

Whatever you want for the children of Gaza is what I want for you. No more, no less.

I'm surprised more people on here haven't read Jewish Currents. It's super lefty only in that it's not pro Zionist, which if you think about it, is really not so irrational.

Beinart also engages with Ta Nehisi Coates, who very much disagrees with the 'its complicated' trope which is often used to justify the unjust situation in Israel/Palestine.

You wish for them to starve and not be your problem any more. Hope you encounter the same faith.

No they didn't. They wanted them to go to Heaven, and now you are wishing them the same. Good energy like this is exactly what we need.

We believe in mysticism and manifestation now, just thinking by declaring something it happens?

Does this mean that people can say whatever they want? Yes.

Another interesting twist on a very interesting thread. Thank you PP and OP. I watched the video and will now check out the "it's complicated" trope, which is indeed a tempting pitfall, right?

Anonymous wrote:it was an interesting conversation at a pivotal time. I'm Jewish, very pro-Israel but I hate Netanyahu and what he's done to our Palestinian neighbors. I wish they had talked about how Hamas has still not release 50 remaining hostages (or their bodies): that would end the famine right away. But the Netanyahu government isn't doing anyone any favors right now and needs to change. It makes all of us look bad and endangers all of us as such.

How are you so certain that releasing the remaining hostages “would end the famine right away?” Isn’t it at least as likely that once the hostages have been released Netanyahu will destroy the remaining Palestinians?

Exactly, that's why Israel has rejected most of the hostage deals and why they don't care if the hostages starve or get killed by indiscriminate bombing. The goal has always been to wipe out Gaza and resettle and the justification for this can only occur so long as there are hostages. Not a very a very complicated or difficult concept to see.

The WSJ article about the young men starving and digging their own craves has made it hard for me to sleep tonight. As are the images of starving children. I can’t believe what these people are doing to each other. I came to this forum because I wanted to hear how anyone can believe in a God that is letting these things happen.

A lot of American Jews are lefties. Not sure why you don’t think these views are representative of a LOT of people.
