+1 ND has been going downhill in recent years. I almost attended myself and have good friends who did. We definitely wouldn’t go there now in the current environment. |
Agree Mich. solid chance ED
He’s not getting into ND, he’d be competing with similar scores or better, and he’s not coming from a feeder Catholic School. |
Lol ok. Since you wouldn’t go there it must be going downhill. That it’s consistently very high in the rankings, has an Ivy League level endowment, and is harder to get into year after year after year is irrelevant I suppose. |
Marginal difference. Why so sensitive about your school? |
Notre Dame is more prestigious, go with that. |
I'd go with Michigan especially if a STEM field is your major. Unless it's premed, I'd go with Notre Dame. |
I think very highly of ND, it’s downside is location, but positive to it is that it encourages a lot of community on campus especially with their dorm life which makes very engaged and loyal alumni. Mine didn’t choose it end, but I think it would have been a great experience. You sure saw that endowment on admit weekend though! |
ND REA does not really have an advantage…you have all the athletes, priority legacy kids whose parents or grandparents give $$$ and the tippy top kids who are Ivy caliber but want Notre Dame for any given reason. |
Thats not marginal. Those test score are not elite. |
Mine didn't choose it at the end either. But, the school did do an awesome job on admit weekend. Seemed like a very kind environment. If my kid had decided on premed as his major, he definitely would have chosen ND. Their premed department seemed outstanding. |

In terms of the academic profile of the admitted class, the University of Notre Dame is a more difficult admit than the University of Michigan.
However, the profile of the College of Engineering and Business (Ross) admits at UM would certainly be right there with the ND ranges. Both are great schools, but it's apples and oranges. Ann Arbor > South Bend by a mile though. |
It’s not a marginal difference at all. It’s the same difference between Michigan and Indiana U. |
Was getting the information from our school's naviance account. From our (public) school you need better grades for Notre Dame. Test scores for Michigan. I didn't go to either, neither did my wife or kids. Just trying to help out. |
