He was also great in The Resident. He actually managed to make his arrogant doctor with a God complex character likeable. RIP.

+1 RIP adorable Theo.

He was the best. Big part of that show’s success in the early years.

Sad.

Yes, a person can murder someone by drowning them. Then it’s not an accident.

Also - a car or plane can crash into a lake, a boat or ship can sink. While those are accidents and result in drowning, they aren't referred to as "accidental drownings" like when one individual goes swimming and doesn't come back, or falls overboard on a cruise ship.

The older I get the less I mess with water. Big loss this one.

I know there are already a lot of celebrities who have died, that were very present in my youth entertainment exposure, but this hits home.

We are not old. We're still trying to hide piercings from our elders and sneaking off to concerts in Baltimore.

You’re having BIG FUN, huh? Seeing The Wretched in Baltimore.

♥️😢

I remember laughing so hard to Theo's antics. So much fun

This tragic accident is so sad.

He was such a joy to watch on the Cosby Show and as the media is highlighting, he made a big mark in tv history because of that role.

The ocean really is dangerous. I’m just so sorry this terrible tragedy happened.

I had two sisters and no brothers. Theo was my first idea of what it would be like to have a brother. Very sad, and he seemed like a good guy.

Some posters may not know/remember this but Jeff’s (Jeff founded DCUM with his wife) brother died from drowning a couple of years ago. Sending good thoughts, Jeff.

He was my ideal big brother. So sad to hear this news. It is sad that the Cosby Show isn’t given the credit it deserves due to Bill’s personal behavior. It was a very important show and Malcolm was a big part of that.

So sad. He was on the Southern Carribean side of Costa Rica by Puerto Limon, which isn't as touristy as the Pacific side.

Every Thursday night - Cosby at 8, Family Ties at 8:30, and Cheers at 9. Our whole family watched together for an hour and a half every week. Then I remember going to school and discussing the episodes. It's sad that now there isn't a sense of connectedness with shared entertainment since there are so many options. It really miss that aspect of network TV.

How didn’t he know that he should swim parallel to the shore?
