Costs more for the average American. Why would someone waste their money there? |
Gay. Haven't you seen Meet the Parents? |
Huh? I think they are all women. |
Nobody in healthcare calls it that - being 'subservient' to a doctor. Healthcare is very much a team sport. Young doctors learn quickly to trust the nurses. Nurses are at the bedside 24/7, picking up on subtleties and nuances in their patients that the doctor relies on. The poster above can go back to the 1950s. I've been a nurse for over 25 years - I have worked alongside Hopkins nurses, Penn nurses, Georgetown nurses but also UMd, JMU, GMU, VCU, UDel... We all make the same starting out. There is no 'bump' in pay because you went to Penn or some other name school. Reputation of the nursing school matters a lot but so does experience - did the student work as a tech, an EMT or have an externship? |
No it doesn’t. |
This is a desperate parent trying to justify spending $$$ for their kid Nope nope nope- and I am a nurse who loves her career |
No it isn’t. My kids are out of college. |
+++ thank you! |
What do you mean these hospitals are "run' by Penn nursing grads? What positions are you talking about? I'm not finding these people. And Hopkins Medicine is run by Redonda Miller who is an MD. |
This person is making this stuff up. You are thanking someone who is not telling the truth. |
I just googled and found an article. Regina Cunningham is CEO of Penn Hospital…Madeline Bell is CEO of CHoP…Karen Flaherty is CEO of Philly VA hospital. From University City to Memorial Healthcare System in Florida, where three out of six hospitals are now run by nurse CEOs, to Johns Hopkins, where a former oncology nurse serves as president of the health system, to hospitals and health systems of all sizes throughout the country, nurses like Cunningham, Bell, and Flaherty-Oxler are increasingly landing at the top of the org chart. |
^Nurses and women! Think of that.
Probably 'cause these healthcare orgs can get 'em for 78 cents on the dollar. |
The Executive Vice President for Hopkins Medicine is a male nurse. Good for him! |

It looks like Kevin Sowers, MSN, is President of the Hopkins Health System as well as EVP for Hopkins Medicine. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/about/leadership/kevin-sowers |
