Healthcare is very much a team sport. Young doctors learn quickly to trust the nurses. Nurses are at the bedside 24/7, picking up on subtleties and nuances in their patients that the doctor relies on. The poster above can go back to the 1950s. I've been a nurse for over 25 years - I have worked alongside Hopkins nurses, Penn nurses, Georgetown nurses but also UMd, JMU, GMU, VCU, UDel... We all make the same starting out. There is no 'bump' in pay because you went to Penn or some other name school. Reputation of the nursing school matters a lot but so does experience - did the student work as a tech, an EMT or have an externship? [/quote]
