Class of ‘25 - merit aid

Seems like a lot less merit is being given out, and I’m sure this year will be even worse.

American 0k
Auburn 11k
Elon originally 10k, then another 7.5k with Fellows program
FSU 0k
Furman 30k
Gettysburg 52k
GW 0k
South Carolina 0k
Sewanee 33k
South Florida 2k, Honors Program
Wofford 33k

Then, around April 27th or so, American offered 22k, and Elon, Sewanee, and Wofford all offered another 5k each.

Thanks for sharing! I thought SC gave a lot of merit, that’s surprising. I also thought GW would give a small amount.

NP; I’m surprised at South Carolina also.

I'm not too surprised..poster had 3.9 weighted, not unweighted.

Nothing from W&M or Pitt. Didn't get into UVA or VT.

My info is from the class of 2023 but my kid got great merit (better than I expected) from every Catholic university he applied to. Just an FYI. Their NPCs were very accurate.

In state for VT and did not get in? Did you apply EA and for what major? I’m surprised by this (my 2025 was admitted with slightly higher stats for engineering)

Which Catholic schools, and did they wind up attending any?

NP; my daughter (HS class of 23) received a grant and scholarship from University of Scranton and total COA would have been 33,000. She chose elsewhere but I would have been happy for her to attend Scranton. I’ve read on these boards that Loyola in MD is very generous.

DC received merit scholarships from Loyola MD and Catholic University in DC. The scholarships brought the COA at those schools down to about 40K a year.
DC: top 5% of class, 4.0 uw/4.6 w GPA. 1450 SAT.

DC ended up attending elsewhere, but liked both schools (didn't find CUA to be as conservative or Catholic as many allege).

He is now a junior at Loyola MD. Their merit award of $25k was the highest. The other Catholic schools awarded between $18-23k. They were U of Scranton, Manhattan, La Salle, Seton Hall, St. Joe’s, Duquesne. He applied TO and his gpa when he applied was 3.1.
