Anyone willing to share how much merit colleges offered your child? We’re on the hunt, I’m curious what kind of offers the latest class got! |
1500 sat, 4.0 unweighted gpa.
$30k from Oberlin, $33k from Smith, $10k w&m oos (Monroe Scholar), $5k umd in-state. |
$36.5K case
$25k UVM $15k (I think?) Bing $10k UMD OOS 4.0/4.4, 1510 sat |
$33k St. Joe’s, which just leaves about $12k for tuition plus room and board. It will end up being about $40k to $45k all in including expenses and books and transport. Amtrak easy peasy from DC to Philly. We think this is a great deal for small class sizes, mid-sized (6k) students in a city. |
3.8 / 4.4 GPA and 1440 SAT |
Pitt -20K, honors program
UVM -25K, honors program UGA -in-state tuition (forgetting the amount), honors program Clemson -in-state tuition, (forgetting amount) honors program Texas -nothing Wisconsin -nothing Michigan -nothing UCLA -nothing UVA -nothing Berkeley -nothing UNC -nothing, honors program |
$25k each at tech schools ranked 50-100 |
20k northeastern |
Do you recall what the total all-in price would have been per year at all of these schools? And what did DC choose? |
St. Joe’s is a great value. Hope your child loves it. |
Just keep in mind that whatever aid you’re offered is the same for all four years. The cost of tuition, room/board goes up by thousands every year. |
Your kid’s list looks a lot like my kid’s. Can you tell me their stats and where they chose to go? |
This is not true for all schools. Some schools do freeze tuition. And some schools will increase aid. Just make sure you find out before committing. |
Which schools increase merit aid year by year? |
18-22k for UGA, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida. 1410 4.15 private school. Did not get into VT or UVA iN State. Not top 30%, knew she wouldnot get in. WL clemson. Going to UGA. Full pay and would have gone anywhere without merit; the merit seems really common at these schools among her peers. More like a standard discount for average-excellent kids. |
