Is gen z drinking more?

I assure you they're boozing, especially White Claw, High Noon, and other fruity soda-ish canned cocktails. Those cans are in like every photo of the social scenes at the beach and lakes they're at this summer. The "mature" girlies are often drinking wine.

I think bars are dead because young adults don't really spontaneously mix with random people anyone. They have their core friend groups and group chats and online gamer friends -- if they venture off with randoms like say via a dating app, they're going to vet them on social media and via mutuals first.

Bars are dead?! I assure you that bars are alive and kicking in NYC. Absolutely packed.

God, when did kids get so boring?

Craft beer sales are down more than overall beer.

Total beer: -1.2%

Craft beer: -3.9%

Import beer: +3.9%

Minor variances are not the topic. They are up 1000000% overall in the long run. You must panic sell when the DOW drops 1 point.

Don't think so. They are abstaining from everything. Any kind of smoking is not popular or cool.

Not true. Cannabis use among young adults (college age) has skyrocketed, and it's at its highest rate now than anytime over the past 30 years. Gen Z is now 15 to 28 years old.

Yep.

That movie "Idiocracy" is unfolding as prophecy.

The craft market has matured and brewery closings are outpacing brewery openings. The market is flooded with expensive but pedestrian products. Additionally craft brewers will be disproportionately affected by aluminum and steel tariffs and rising raw material costs. If you think craft beer will grow again any time soon you’re crazy. Most have transitioned to tap room sales to keep afloat.

No decent beer is put in plastic lined aluminum cans. That's like saying nice wineries are affected by plastic and cardboard imports. Brown bottles only.

I agree with all but the sobriety part. Gen z sees dispensary cannabis as more natural. Fewer additive chemicals. (Not saying they are correct). Compared to alcohol, the high doesn't last as long as being drunk does, and there is no hangover. They get up and go to work just fine, work out just fine, eat clean just fine. They discuss their different types of cannabis the same way millennials and Gen X talk about craft beer and cocktails.

I mean, if my cousin had been a pothead instead of an alcoholic, he wouldn't have died at 32.

Tons of great beers, including imports and fancy craft breweries, are using cans now. You really don’t know what’s going on. Cans aren’t just for PBR anymore.

Here’s an article from early 2024. The craft can movement has expanded even further since. I don’t know if you just turned 21, or you don’t get out much, but you don’t know a lot about the craft beer industry.

Drunk in a strip mall? That’s sort of odd.
