Contractors helped themselves to drinks from our fridge

Same here! Can’t believe OP did not offer them water and drinks and food.

The contractors are hire workers. This isn't best friends luncheon. They can provide their own food and drinks.

These repsonses are so weird! I offer contractors drinks, but that doesn't mean it's okay to help themselves to drinks out of the fridge. Especially not an alcoholic drink while on the job site. That could be a liability issue.

It's true that OP doesn't know if they took the drinks or if there was a misunderstanding. I guess if there is no chance of hiring this crew again, it could be fine to let it go. Or it could be addressed not by accusing but just by asking.

I would maybe just comment that any contractors should bring their own drinks and food. Of course you can’t be 100% that the workers took those items unless you have it on video (not that I don’t believe you, I do).

OP. Nobody else would drink the Celsius or hard lemonade but me. They also left a half bottle of Gatorade in the same fridge.

Like I said, I’m not going to miss any of these items, and would have even offered if they asked (my wife brought them water one day), but just the presumptuousness kind of irks me.

I won’t say anything and just go our separate ways.

I think this is the point of confusion. She offered them water, maybe even put it in the mini fridge. Then they think the beverages in the fridge are for them. Are they all native English speakers or are some people translating for others? I frequently talk to people in a language I’m not comfortable in, and I frequently use context to help me understand words I don’t know.

OP, if you’re annoyed, remove any drinks you don’t want to share from the mini fridge next time. My answer would be different if they’d gone into your kitchen or your wife hadn’t shared water with them. To me, this is just a misunderstanding that you can gloss over. No need to mention it.

OP. No chance.

Do you have kids? How about babysitters for those kids?
