Contractors helped themselves to drinks from our fridge

This.

OP, why do you feel the need to mention it to them? Let’s say they did drink it, what do you want them to do or say once you mention it to them? Sorry? Pay for them? Like it’s done, it sucks but you move on.

Same here! Can’t believe OP did not offer them water and drinks and food.

I usually provide water and Gatorade to workers on my house.

Are you certain your wife didnt tell them to help themselves?

My husband is a contractor and he and his staff bring their own food and drink. Why would the workers assume food and drink are covered by those that hired them. I’d be annoyed too but without proof, would not assume or say anything. Plus, tjey should have asked.

Anonymous wrote:We had our basement drywall and carpet replaced this past week and I noticed several Celsius energy drinks and (I think) one hard lemonade missing from the bar fridge down there. The beer and wine were accounted for. I’m not a big fan of the Celsius, so we won’t miss it. But just the idea of them assuming this was OK is off putting.

They did a decent job with the basement but now they want to paint our main level (which they bid on). Pretty sure we’re going with another contractor for that - knew this even before I discovered the missing drinks - but should I bring this up as a possible reason we’re not going to use them anymore?

Also, is this typical?

Energy drinks and hard lemonade?

Do you have middle schoolers or teens?

OP. No chance.

How old are your kids?

Were you never a teenager?

You sound like an extremely petty person. I’m a licensed contractor, I would never take anything from a client, but would also hate to work for someone like you. Who goes on to an anonymous forum to complain about something so petty?

I personally don't think a contractor should touch, use, or consume anything of yours for any reason unless it's just to move it to get under the sink or similar. I've had contractors ruin a towel and broom cleaning up the job site and one recently ask to use my paper towels to clean up water from a leak they were there to fix. Why can't they bring their own? It's not only rude and unprofessional but makes me question their work because they didn't plan for obvious job requirements and are not prepared.

This. We try to treat others as we would like to be treated if we were in their position.

I would not say a word and let it go. It is super petty and not a big deal. I also always offer drinks to anyone working in my house.

Yeah. I can't believe you didn't offer them beverages on a hot day. That's customary and considerate.
