Embarrassing that they would lean in to such stupidity

Seriously. I would love to send my kid there and I couldn't care less that a nasty person happens to be named Elon.

It's not like it's Washington and Lee, named after a Confederate.

What a f'ing idiotic post. Can you be more specific in ranking Elon's "greatness"? For some, Elon might be the perfect fit. I imagine my alma mater wouldn't rank as "great" by whatever standards you apply, but I received an excellent education- which, along with hard work, good choices, and a good deal of luck, has helped propel me to leading the "great" life I'm currently living.

Of course it hurts, just look what it does to the google search, the school is pages from the top. Politics aside, it's brand dilution. There's a decade of awkward jokes ahead. Maybe no individual will say this is their thinking, but in aggregate there will be a hit.

That would be a dumb reason not to consider it. There are better ones!

But remember... Beaver College had to change its name because of dumb kids being dumb, so honestly it wouldn't surprise me

Elon U was ranked #1 by US News and World Report for excellence in undergraduate teaching for four consecutive years ahead of Princeton, Brown and Duke. Elon U dropped in the USNWR national rankings because of recent methodology changes - primarily the number of PELL Grant recipients and first-generation students. (These are two categories where Elon U lacks). Many college applicants believe there is more to a college experience than five worthy home football games or protesting in a campus library. Admission applications increase annually, and admission rates are decreasing. Comparing Elon U to Mr. Musk is silly and shortsighted.
