3. Tell the cops you aren’t as strong as a man, and thus, are allowed to hit your husband in the face!

4. Officer, he was being slick at the mouth. I was informed on dc urban moms (and dads!) it was a perfectly reasonable response.

5. I was fixing his makeup and he got annoyed and pulled away, officer.

Not that it makes it right to put hands on someone, but she didn't "smack" him at all.

I'm sorry, but I'm crying at this whole first paragraph. Mrs. Macron needs you on her PR team.

I have no doubt Macron was being slick at the mouth, but she should have kept her hands to herself.

I agree with the bolded.

It wasn't a "smack". Did she put hands on him? Absolutely. Was that a good thing to do? Absolutely not.

And it wasn't a "smack". Y'all need to learn how to accurately describe events so you don't ruin your credibility and get stuck in semantics arguments. It doesn't take a PR team to say "pushed him" or "appeared to shove him"

Really surprised dcum is making excuses for this.

Shameful.

Why are you surprised? Partisanship is a religion for most of DCUM, and they approach it with fundamentalist fervor. They will excuse anything from a political figure on their side.

Moment Macron's wife pushed him in the face as they land in Vietnam

6. I didn’t hit my husband, officer; I merely “pushed him in the face.”

Wow. I didn’t think dcum was ok with something like this. How awful. I didn’t think that at all. GROSS.

Strange. Just disturbing and awful.

Who’s saying it’s ok?

Mrs. Macron hasn’t been arrested for assault, so law enforcement is saying it’s ok.

That’s quite scary.

Well they are in Vietnam on diplomatic passports. So??

That said, he’s a head of state tussling with Trump over tariffs and Ukraine and NATO. I absolutely think this behavior deserves a trip to the local jail when they get home. But France and Macron have perception issues that affect the whole country’s economy and security to reckon with. It’s in no one’s interest to look like a woman beat him up at this particular time. That’s the sad reality.

Why are Americans okay with a multiple philanderer who raped a women while his third wife was recovering from childbirth? Who raped his first wife. Melania and Trump’s marriage seems healthy to you?

Americans have zero room to judge right now.

A woman did beat him, and from his reaction, apparently does so often.

I’m not disagreeing. I’m sayING she’s not in jail now because they are in Vietnam, not France.

And that *as much as I hate it* This will be swept under the rug because Macron needs to project power right now.

I’m not saying any of it is okay.

🙄

7. Although I manually shut my wife’s mouth, ie, adjusted my wife’s face, officer, Trump exists so I should not be arrested or held accountable.

Also, I am a democrat. Apparently we can assault and it’s oki doki.

How on earth is Macron going to project power to anyone who views this incident?

How??

I like Macron a lot but I'm withholding an opinion on that video. It's hard to tell if that was a slap. It could have been a slap, but you don't see more than her hand on his face, appearing to push him away by the face. I don't know what French customs are, and you can get into a lot of misperceptions if you judge by your cultural standards. After 10 hours of perhaps a very bumpy plane ride, all bets are off if one high strung individual pushes someone away by the face with a "get out of my face" snarl. I wouldn't get all bent out of shape by something like that. Now, if they punched me, that would be a different matter. I'm female if that matters.
