| Hands down, the best BSC YDP girls coach is BM. Wish he coached more than one team at a time. |
| Does MSI have any ECNL, GA, NPL, etc relationship? |
No. They should have been like Loudoun. they have a very large rec program and never pulled kids into their travel program. They are trying to resurrect it, but they are so far behind. |
Some of MSI's teams play in EDP |
THIS!!! 100%!!! He coached my daughter for two years on Pre E, and we would have chosen to stay with him over any top team if it had been an option. Perhaps we should blame him for this craziness! HaHa. If he had just kept us, none of us from his original crew would have been subjected to the likes of JT, and now KL and AS! I dream of a day where he says I'm back 2014 and we can all bolt back to him from wherever we are!!! Dreams! Goals! |
| This thread has gone completely off the rails. It also tells me that a whole lot of folks either know nothing about soccer or are unhappy that certain coaches will not coddle their child. BM is, without a doubt, one of the worst coaches at BSC. He will take a quality team and destroy it in a season. His practices are an embarrassment. JT is an excellent coach who steadily develops a team and is focused on learning to play the correct way rather than winning right from the jump. This shows in how his 2014 girls have progressed. Prior to coaching them, he had an E2 team that he turned into a more successful and competitive team than the same-age E1s; hence, the promotion. He is also approachable and not into drama. He and JH are both major bright spots in a slate of mostly toxic coaches throughout all the girls’ age groups. JH is a massive loss. I never thought I’d see a thread painting JT in some sort of bonkers light when I’m aware of the actual reputation he has with current and former players. To anyone reading through these insane posts and trying to make a decision about what coach to play for and what their character is, go to a few of JT’s games and decide for yourself. Sometimes you have to take the keyboard warrior posts on here with a serious grain of salt. |
| I know who you’re talking about but there are two BM initialed coaches on the girls side. Clarifying here that Brendan is fantastic and maybe who the other poster was talking about. Heard more negative things about the other BM. |
Yes, I was the OP re: "BM" and was referring to Brendan. I believe he has only taken on U9 teams (took his last one at U9 and U10), so not the same BM who allegedly can destroy a good team (not familiar with that situation). But Brendan is fantastic. I don't have a problem with JT or JH (don't know him as well). No one is looking for coddling. Looking for coaches who can meet the kids where they are and development them from that level. Brendan and JT (and I think JH) can do that really well. |
Please put down the crack pipe. It's obvious you have no idea who BM is. LOL. BM has only coached at BSC for three years, and all three years he took a NEW team (or his one previous team) and DEVELOPED those girls! His practices were amazing! He treated our Pre E team like they were a top team and held them to high standards and they rose to the occasion. I don't care how much you want to defend JT, but don't you dare bash BM! |
Hey, non crack pipe-smoking OP here. Not talking about Brendan, who is a great guy. In case you are not aware, there is another BM coach who had a 2013 group in YDP last year and a 2016 group this year. The 2013s in particular did not develop under him. You and I were talking about two different coaches, as another poster picked up on. You’ll get no bashing of Brendan M. from me, as he is a really good coach. The other one is a different story. |
| Looks like there are two BMs at BSC. The original post about BM was referencing the one who has taken on two U9 teams (2014 and 2016) and took his first one (2014) to U10 as well. I don't think anyone can disagree that that BM is an excellent coach. And I agree with the OP--good coaches meet their players where they are and develop them and the team from that point. Some of the players/parents go beyond that and work on outside individual development. Getting back to the intent of this thread, it appears there are some coaches assigned for U12 where parents are questioning their ability to do what JT, BM, JH, NK, and other YDP coaches did, albeit at an intermediate age group. In reality, only time will tell. So good luck and have fun to the kids who stayed, the kids who moved to new clubs, and those still looking. |
Oh OK! I couldn’t believe what I was reading and assumed it had to be drug induced. LOL. I don’t know who the BM is…as long as no one is bashing Brendan. LOL. |
Sorry to say this, but it sounds like your DD may have been cut. We got an offer for the Blue team a few days ago which we accepted, as have quite a few other current players. I’m not sure that whatever is going on with the Pre ECNL team has made a difference with Blue team offers. You may want to start contacting other clubs and not wait to hear from BSC. |
| Current Blue/White player here. No offer yet. Same for some others I’m in direct contact with. They can’t cut too many and still have a team. Several current players already leaving that didn’t even go to tryouts. A couple confirmed moving up. There weren’t that many new players at tryouts. It’s tough but being patient and formulating back up plans. |

Really hoping to hear something soon. My DD is a wreck hearing about friends across teams that have offers from Bethesda. She is feeling shy about showing up to practices and games without an offer and having to hear teammates talk about their offers.
Is it poor form to reach out to the coach and ask for a status update? |
