How often do you speak to your MIL/DIL?

Only if she texts me, minimally. She is difficult and I dread communication.

Wow, this is so sad. I hope to have good DIL's. Otherwise I'm leaving my millions to my dog. You people are awful.

This, unless she calls or texts me a logistical question in which case I of course respond.

Never. I used to have a cordial relationship with my ILs, but they have gotten increasingly difficult with old age and have treated us, even our kids callously. Last year FIL irrationally accused DD of bad behavior and even though MIL knew DD was innocent, she refused to say even one gentle word in support of DD and steadfastly supported FIL. Just plastered a smile on and said “see you later DD!” in a cheery voice and left while DD wept in front of them, it was so bizarre. DH is still close to his parents and I will be polite when we meet, but I no longer make any effort to keep in touch with them.

Just don't be awful. I get along great with my son's girlfriend but not at all with my mil and I never have. One doesn't have anything to do with the other.
