Outside of wrinkles, what was your rude awakening to getting old?

Lol, I wish I could say my aging woes started at 60! I’m 35, and as soon as I hit 30 I started to feel some deterioration. I’d never had heartburn before 30, ever. Luckily it’s subsided recently. I also have thrown my back out twice, one time leaving me fully bedridden for 2 days and struggling to move for another 2 weeks. I started greying in my 30s too!

I think it’s more that I took my youth for granted. I didn’t need to workout much, I was thin and pretty. I didn’t need to eat well, I’m young and healthy. Now it’s all catching up and I know I need to take better care of my body.

On the plus side, wrinkles are not a problem (yet) 😂 just everything else!

Wrinkles have never bothered me. I went grey in my 30’s and it wasn’t an issue.

Arthritic pain is the most bothersome, but I wouldn't call it a rude awakening. I wish I could sleep longer. My migraine pain went away as I aged, so that was helpful.

Me too-- my whole life but so much worse in my late 40s-- but HRT was a game changer. Progesterone is the best sleep aid I've ever tried.

How much do you take? I'm on progesterone as well but don't see any effect on my sleep.

You're still young.

Same. The skin on my hands is so lax, and they are bony and constantly dry. Plus, the veins show through.

The weight gain. My midsection is very thick and it happened so quickly.

Pain - so much pain
Inability to get into good shape - every time I start to ramp up, I get injured
Taking forever to heal from injuries. Nothing full heals.
Spots on my face. I was ok with wrinkles. I was not prepared for age spots.

A little self-entitled Gen Z girl pushed past my elderly father in a line to catch up with some friends. Didn't say excuse me or anything. Just literally pushed him aside. My father started to tell her off and she got combative. So I stepped in and told her to move along. She persists to argue so I repeated just move along. Finally, I told her to hush her mouth. She seemed shocked. She looked at me and asked, "How old are you?" (I'm 53). And then very seriously declared, "It's amazing that I'm only 25 and so much more mature than you."

Gen Z really is an obnoxious lot lacking in basic manners. But I've noticed a lot of ageism from them. It's wild.

+1 billion. I deeply dislike Gen Z. Demon spawn to the max.
