What what? Yes, it was very diverse. You surprised by that? |
People love the one in Gatlinburg. I believe it has a parrot in the lobby, and a fun island vibe. |
Margaritaville appeals to people who like beaches and cruise vacations. I haven't stayed at one but happened to eat at one in the Bahamas. The salad was on point and the chicken strips were insanely good.
I think a lot of people can't handle the camp/cheese factor of these types of vacations. But if you can, they are a lot of fun. |
We went to a great resort in Costa Rica that was recommended on this forum that used to advertise heavily on Wheel. (My kids were so excited when they saw it on TV.). Si Como No. |
Not PP but we’ve used Redweek to buy Marriot time share weeks at several very nice Marriott properties (Hawaii, Aruba, Hilton head). The only real downside is that there is basically no cancellation — so you have to be pretty darn sure you’ll use it. I even got some Marriott points for the week we stayed. |
The NYC one has a Statue of Liberty holding up a margarita! |
I will only state this anonymously because I am a Millennial snob, but I seriously considered the NYC Margaritaville because it has a pool and can be reasonably priced (for NY anyway). I did not book it. But I would, and I’d fully embrace the Jimmy Buffet cheesiness. |
Like one of these?
https://www.margaritavilleresorts.com/margaritaville-vacation-club-st-thomas My son just went and it was inexpensive and pretty amazing from what he told me. He’s late 20’s. Went with his girlfriend and another couple. |
We have friends that bought in a Margaritaville development in Florida. It’s cramped living in a resort themed community that is a scaled down version of the Villages. With “Margaritaville / island” decor and vibe. Curious to see what the development looks like in 5, 10 and 20 years. Understand the HOA fees are high to maintain the vibe. Looks like a fun place, just not sure I’d want to live there |
I agree. None of my friends are particular Buffett fans, but we knew we wanted to stay in or near Hollywood, FL, because of proximity to another friend we were visiting. So we priced everything out and this is where we ended up. It was “themed” for sure, but basically the theme is “relax,” “have fun,” “vacation,” so… |
Don't know the cruise ships. Many of the hotels are in good locations and are nice. Agree it is all about sun, laid back, and drinking. I do not agree with the 50+. At the beach hotels mostly 20 somethings with older folks mixed in. It is a middle America - middle class with some money to spend vibe. |
What an a** |
You hit it on the nail with the bolded above. |
Margaritaville is a place for people whose ideal vacation is eating the same Sysco cheeseburgers and drinking the same Corona Light they do at home, but somewhere slightly warmer, and with a pool that goes in the ground instead of above it. |
We’ve stayed here twice and had a great time. You can’t beat the location, and the resort itself is quite nice. The pools are perfect, there is poolside drink and food, the ocean right there, it’s actually one of our favorite quick getaways. |
