I compliment effortlessly, but rarely men. I cannot remember even one instance.
I routinely compliment children and teens, mostly on their outfit, hairstyle, or something new, like a new eyeglass or such. I also compliment parents (moms), like: “oh, I love your jacket!” |

For me its usually makes my day. I’m a guy though so its not like I get them all the time. This last weekend my wife and I were walking into a restaurant and this guys started shouting “PEDRO PASCAL”. “See, he looked”.
I get this every time Pedro is in something that people are watching starting way back when he was in Game of Thrones. The only creepyish time it happened is when I was at a happy hour talking to some coworkers I could see someone in my peripheral vision and my coworkers were like “that woman is taking pictures of you”. This woman was standing like 5 feet away with her phone up taking my picture. Then she just said something about Pedro Pascal, we talked for a few minutes and she left. |
| I say thank you and say something nice about them. If possible I compliment their children’s looks (if they have them there). |
| People do it to me all the time. I'm gracious but it's annoying. I am not here for their entertainment |
It isn’t a real compliment if it’s a catcall. That’s my internal rule. I prefer to flip those people off. |
| I wanted to compliment a woman in my yoga class recently who had an awesome haircut and really nice shiny grey hair, but I didn't want to be too forward so I kept it to myself. |
As you should, you misogynist pig. |
Same! I feel lucky it happens a few times per year, and it feels so nice! I make sure to do the same and compliment other women I see if I like their hair, something they are wearing or just look really nice. I don’t ever compliment men though- maybe I should but I am nervous they will take as I’m interested. |
| I am fashionable and get compliments nearly every day, and sometimes multiple times. It never gets old and reminds me of the importance of paying compliments. |
| Love it! |
| A woman,i like it. A man, wary. (I’m a straight woman) |
| Off shoot: Can a woman compliment a male stranger without it coming across as flirting? |
On his dog or maybe a specific item of clothing if you say you'd like to get it for your dh. |
