Teaching your kids that we live in a "suddenly hateful and zero sum society" because the political party that you don't support won an election doesn't sound like a great thing to do to your kids. For their sake, I hope you get a grip.

You’re way oversimplifying the obliteration of social, political and institutional norms, and the loss of many protections. This is so much bigger than a political party or a single person. This is the reversal of many decades of American progress. This is a revision of American ideals and policies. The America we grew up in is disappearing before our eyes with astonishing speed. Our standing is the world is being fundamentally altered. I don’t care about a Republican in the WH, but I’m anti Project 2025.

All this obliteration has been happening for the last 4 years. It just didn't affect you because you didn't disagree with any of it. You fully believe you are morally superior

I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that I, and everyone I know. are both morally and ethically superior to trump, his hand+picked sycophants, and every elected Republican in the House and Senate.

I doubt that. Trump is cleaning house, which ought to have been done immediately after the Obama disaster. Trump and Vance with the help of Elon are the only ones with the balls to “get ‘er done”. Trump has a 1000% approval rating in my eyes.

+1

I have a daughter in college and am encouraging her to go to Canada, England, Switzerland for grad school. I know there are great US schools, but why stay to see Trump ignore the Constitution and be put in a 3rd term. Project 2025 truly wants women to not be able to vote, own bank accounts, get a job, ect.

OP here. Mea culpa, I do know the correct use of an apostrophe. I suppose the warm sunshine combined with the serious nature of the issues left me temporarily incapable of its inclusion.

Meanwhile, I am grateful for the posters that are acknowledging just how different the last two months have been when compared to a normal changing of the guard. Mine isn't even a complete list of all the extralegal, morally suspect, and unethical actions that have been taken thus far. Attempting to normalize it will come at a steep cost to our country.

Op, I agree. I would add that we never really processed covid and the implications it had on our mental health. It has killed more than 1.2 million Americans and more than 7 million globally. The world shut down. School shut down. Graduations, weddings, and funerals did not take place as they should. Kids didn’t get to say goodbye to classmates and teachers who they might never see again. As a teacher, I can confirm the learning loss is still being felt, but in a different way each year, as it depends on what developmental level the kid was when covid hit.

Electronics has changed absolutely everything about childhood. Kids at all ages are not sheltered from anything, and they get no break from any bullying or drama taking place at school or anywhere else in real life.

As a society, we have basically ignored all of this. We never helped kids process the fear, confusion, and loss they experienced during covid. We aren’t giving them enough monitoring and guidance on electronics.

Our youth is experiencing a mental health crisis. I fear how this will manifest as they get older.

The backlash is retaliation against the Democrats who mandated the massive shutdowns. Most young people are paying attention to the science. They know tony fauci never was ‘the science’.

First Republicans will lower the working age so that American kids can take the illegal immigrant jobs, then discard them when the robots take over.

Yes. Its called chores.

It's important to have a balanced life. Working out helps with daily stressors. Playing the guitar helps. Watching a comedy movie with the kids help.

The American president is an extremely powerful feature. He has almost king like power. So when you have a president who uses this power to the max and happens to have a chaotic personality we all end up on his magnetic filed. We will continue to have elections. While it's terrible for those currently affected by all of this, we can voice our dissatisfaction at the ballot. However, Democrats need to be careful here. Just because the folks reject the current policies doesn't mean they will go out and support them. They may just stay home.

Seriously. Especially the Boston Globe episode.

We watch as they reverse our diversity, equity, and inclusion gains and then go one step further and try to erase and rewrite our true history.
We know we can't afford the tariffs being imposed.
We feel alarm at the information that DOGE and its improperly vetted employees has amassed and shame at the information that has been carelessly shared.
We wonder if we can survive the damage being done to the environment and whether the removal of regulators and independent overseers will lead to increased illnesses and accidents.
We are watching the dismantling of democracy in real time as this administration accepts no checks and balances and honors no legal rulings.

It is taking a toll on the psyche of this nation. Too much, too quickly, overwhelming us so that we can't focus on any issue for too long and leaving us confused about where to start.

Too much too fast? The Dems should have considered this dilemma when trying to overturn the last 200,000 years of human history to pretend that men now can become women.

Concentrate on the wins.

Canada seems to have rearranged Donald’s attitude. Vance was mocked mercilessly in Greenland. Russia continues to lose. The judiciary is dragging most of the stupid ideas to a halt. Elmo is one of the world’s most hated human beings and he couldn’t sell one of his Nazi junk mobiles even with a White House commercial. The good guys are winning the special elections. Administration appointees are worldwide laughingstocks.

It’s turning.

I needed this. Thanks.

The pendulum is swinging back towards the center...as it always does. It's traumatic for those who are no longer in power and refused to acknowledge there is another side to every issue. "Yes we can" has taken on new meaning.

You sound ignorant and maybe MAGA? Either way open your eyes.

We're focusing on simple inexpensive joys. Walks in the park, afternoons at the library, potluck dinners with friends and neighbors. When my spouse gets home in the evening we spend about 10 minutes venting about the days craziness, then we do our best to drop it for the evening and just enjoy the time we have to spend with each other.

It's sad and terrifying what is happening to the country. I've protested and canvassed. I voted. I try to talk to people and get them to see what's happening. But at the end of the day, people voted for this and continue to say that this is what they want.

The bees are dying, the ice caps are melting, diseases are spreading. Humans are selfish, short sighted, and greedy creatures, and it's hard to watch all of this unfold. But I can't stop it. So I'm going to enjoy what I have while I have it.

IDK where you’re getting this from. Trump is now underwater in polls and the policies all poll like crap as well.

They get it from everything I want to hear.com

It’s taking a toll on liberals, not the psyche of this nation. You are using “we” when many Americans do not share your thoughts and feelings at all. I voted for Trump, because I wanted to see things like an end to DEI and more deportations. I am thrilled with a lot of what he has done. He can’t fix Biden’s disaster economy overnight, but he’s already fixed his disaster border crisis and much else of the damage Biden was doing to this country.

This is false I know several MAGAS that are feeling buyers remorse. Wake up. You sound like an Elon troll.
