We need to hold media accountable

One bad debate was pretty much the only news story for several weeks. Incidents like the DC plane crash, which raised serious security and leadership concerns, should not disappear from the headlines at the first whiff of a new distraction. We should flood media organizations with emails, phone calls, letters, and social media comments, insisting on balanced and thorough reporting. Engage editors, producers, and reporters directly, and don’t underestimate the power of persistent local pressure alongside national outreach. Accountability starts with what the media chooses to spotlight, and we need to demand they do their job.

Of course we still need to reach out to our representatives daily. Btw, over the past couple of weeks, I have realized that their main vm boxes are no longer full, which means people are letting up. Don’t become complacent.

The press is doing their part. I have literally NEVER seen a “positive” story about trump in 7+ years on any of the the network or local news programs I regularly watch, or in any papers/websites I read. The press is doing its job, they’re attacking him relentlessly.

What else do you expect them to do?

what press are you referring to?

There were plenty of positive Trump stories back during the 2015-16 primary season, since that was who Hillary wanted to win the R nomination. And now he’s president. Thanks, Hillary!

we would have been 1000x better off with Biden as president compared to the complete and total debacle we are in now.

and please, you want to talk about the media covering something up? We have a completely deranged, total narcissistic sociopath as potus and the media presents his actions like Trump has ideas but difficulty articulating them.

We'd be less worse off with Biden as POTUS but neither of these two elderly arrogant jerks have any business pretending to be capable of performing the most powerful and demanding job in the world until 2029. 2029!! Ridiculous. Do better America.

Biden wasn’t actively trying to destroy our country like Trump is. Biden appointed competent people to his administration unlike the current clown show. No comparison.

Your friendly reminder Biden only ran in 2020 because of Trump. If voters didn’t vote Trump in the first time, we would be in a very different place.

Reminder that our southern border was basically open under Biden and he let in several million illegals. All facilitated by NGOs funded directly or indirectly by US taxpayers. So spare us the talk about the prior administration’s competence.

omg, is that a figure that Trump provided? The 7 million illegals?!?! oh my God they’re coming for us , the caravan what are we going to do? 😱This is just like the trans issue. People are willing to burn the whole country down because of this and look at what we have now. You really want to compare Biden to Trump. Trump is doing whatever he can to destroy this country. Trump has not come through on any of his so-called campaign promises. He doesn’t care, it’s all about making him and his cronies richer.

If Trump were seriously trying to make himself richer, he'd be using taxpayer dollars to fly down to Palm Beach today so that he can put more taxpayer dollars directly into his own pocket by having the government pick up their hotel tab at inflated rates. Instead he's...wait, what? Uh, never mind.

Yes he was. That's why they were letting in million on 'parole'.

How much are you paying in news subscriptions? Or are you one of these people who expect their news for free?

Honestly, the news should be free rn. People would have more access to reliable information and news if it was. The number of regional papers who don’t give you access to a single free article is staggering.

But, that’s why Vance is trying to gut NPR and as of yesterday, the Smithsonian, both of which are free. He wants to install propaganda, just like the DPRK and China. Guess what they do?? They post FREE “news” in the square for people to read.

Free is good to save democracy.

This is blatantly FALSE. Penn did a study of NYT and found they pushed Biden’s age and used circular narrative to convince readers he was too old because they endlessly pushed it, while ignoring Trump’s age.

If you think NYT is “liberal,” you’re not paying attention:

“As with “Biden’s age,” “Hillary’s emails” was a narrative that was explicitly constructed and actively sustained by the NYT and other mainstream media at the expense of other narratives.”

That we don’t “do better” I blame partly on the media as well. Our best and our brightest often aren’t seeking political careers — although before the purges, many sought career government positions. When I think of just the little that I know about how the Obama girls and Michelle Obama were treated, or even Chelsea Clinton, I think it would be difficult for many people to knowingly subject their family members to abuse.

The one good thing I’ll say about Melania is that she seems to have done an excellent job of protecting Barron.

Trump slurs his words, can’t pronounce words like Yosemite, infrastructure. Could go on and on.

He practically fell out of a garbage truck.

Why doesn’t fox news or the ny post report on all of that??

Agree. Our best and brightest are choosing to make more money in the private sector where they aren't forced to compromise their integrity by being a puppet to the mega donors of our major political parties.

The influence of money in politics has grown exponentially over the past 15 years and it's the most significant long term problem we face from the standpoint of political and Federal Government function. Media, especially media sources with strong political bias, doesn't report on this obvious problem nearly as much as they should because their agendas and narratives are aligned to support the "keep the sheep in line" agendas and narratives pushed by our two major political parties. Needless to say, the RNC and DNC have no interest in discussions related to the billions of dollars that continue to pour in to supposedly fund the campaigns of their crooked politicians.

Where was this reporting back in 2019 and 2020 when the DNC was pushing the nomination of Biden because they were afraid of an open and fair primary that could produce a nominee that wasn't popular with the mega donors?

Nominating someone that would be 78 years old when inaugurated to a FIRST term was a very predictable disaster waiting to happen a few years down the road when that person is now the incumbent seeking re-election. We're now paying the price for this lack of forethought with a Trump second term.

let’s see what the maga voters do when Trump crashes the economy and causes another Great Depression.

Actual elections are far more important. And they're going very well for the Dems ever since Musk took office.

Most Members of Congress don't care all that much about phone calls and letters when they have about 700,000 constituents. They know that the same people call and write repeatedly.

Responses like this drive me nuts. Yes, voting is important but we’re just supposed to sit around twiddling our thumbs in between elections?
