We need to hold media accountable

Yes, let's launch a denial of service attack on representatives that are already in districts that overwhelmingly vote for Democrats. That is really going to change the tide here.

The public deserves the same relentless focus on Trump’s actions, decisions, and cognitive health as was given to Biden’s debate performance—no double standards. One bad debate was pretty much the only news story for several weeks. Incidents like the DC plane crash, which raised serious security and leadership concerns, should not disappear from the headlines at the first whiff of a new distraction. We should flood media organizations with emails, phone calls, letters, and social media comments, insisting on balanced and thorough reporting. Engage editors, producers, and reporters directly, and don’t underestimate the power of persistent local pressure alongside national outreach. Accountability starts with what the media chooses to spotlight, and we need to demand they do their job.

Of course we still need to reach out to our representatives daily. Btw, over the past couple of weeks, I have realized that their main vm boxes are no longer full, which means people are letting up. Don’t become complacent.

How much are you paying in news subscriptions? Or are you one of these people who expect their news for free?

We used to be able to count on facts from ABC, NBC, and CBS and we didn’t even need basic cable

DP I’m gonna ask you to think real hard about your statement. Can you think of anything that accompanied those shows that you got for ‘free’.

Whoosh. You think you’re being so smart and insulting, but you missed the main point. The entire media landscape has changed from 35 years ago.

Uh, yeah. That was my point.

This thread isn't about Biden. Please stay on topic.

This guy isn't a real journalist. He is a lawyer.

I've been contacting ABC News to complain about World News Tonight. Yes, I am the only one under 80 who watches it (I do so while I cook dinner). It ALWAYS leads with some sort of weather news and then buries the scandals. Why do I care if there are tornados in Kansas and why would Kansas care if there is a snowstorm in MD. Just give me the news, I can look out the window for the weather.

I honestly find it almost cute that OP thinks local papers even exist anymore.

Any news outlet that is too critical loses its access.

The WH shouldn't be allowed to permit and deny members of the press corps.

The media people consume today aren’t traditional news outlets that can apply pressure anymore. Most people get their information from user-submitted content on social media, where what's considered factual is decided by platform users through comments and upvotes

And the few that are left are nervous about the tariffs...most newsprint comes from Canada.

Any thoughts about Trump’s age and deteriorating health? The media isn’t covering that.

It's a lot harder to figure out that Trump is deteriorating. Biden was mentally stable in 2020...Trump was not.

Less obvious now that he is in the WH and not on the campaign trail. Anyway, it isn't his "deterioration" that's the problem, it's him, period. And the people around him.

Although I am hoping he will face plant one of these days.
