| I am 57 and have more than a few greys though still very dark. I am a low maintenance person who has never colored in any way. I just went back to work and noticed many of the late 50 people in my office seem to just be going grey naturally. I have not really decided what I will do yet. None of them look 80...they look 55! |
50-60 is peak firing time, PP. Maybe to you these women look great. I have known a few women who looked absolutely stunning in grey-white hair! But to the higher-ups who are calculating how much they'll save by replacing an expensive oldie with an affordable youngster, going grey means drawing attention to yourself... in the worst way. |
Luckily, I do not think Elon cares about our hair color. |
|
Have you seen George Clooney lately? His hair is dyed for a role in a play, and he looks so much older than he does with his natural hair color.
|
He went gray really young, so you are just used to seeing him for decades with salt n pepper hair. If he had kept his hair darker from the start, it would seem normal, and he'd look younger. Though he is aging in the face badly recently, might be not well. |
|
Graying hair is very aging IMO. I have about 15% gray with medium brown hair and I dye my roots. I have olive skin and look younger for my age. I'm not ready to age myself with gray hair.
Covering your roots at home is pretty easy. I go to a salon because they do a better job and I hate doing it myself but I have when I couldn't get a convenient appt. DCUM leans very natural/no make-up/ frumpy but I value my looks and I'm just being real- until you're ready to embrace looking older color your hair |
| I am an NP with fine straight brown hair. My grays are really coming in now, but they are frizzy and stick out from my head when I put my hair up. Would dye change my gray hair texture to make my hair lay flat? |
No, but your grey strands will be less noticeable if they stick out but are the same color as the rest. |
| Im 47 and like you with a handful of grays. I do a demi rinse, which is much easier to maintain. I'll dye eventually, though. I don't think I'd look good with gray hair. |
I started going gray in my early twenties. It runs in my family. I’ve been coloring my hair for decades. |
NP - I'm 51 and that's what I do, too. I get it done every eight weeks or so. It's worked very well for my hair. I'm 51 - a little gray, but not a ton. I don't mind when a few strands start showing through - it keeps my hair from looking too flat and unnatural. It has helped with taming some frizz/flyaway nonsense. I don't know if I'll do a full dye eventually. Probably? |
What do you use for a demi rinse? How long does it last? |
I don't know the brand - I get it done at the salon! If you ask your hairdresser about a demi gloss and they should be able to help you |
Can you people hear yourselves? Just because *you* didn't have grey hair until you were 35 doesn't mean it doesn't happen. My mom started going grey at 19 and was fully silver by 35. |
PP is saying it looks weird to have a dark all over color when you're over 30. My hair is brown. I did not start getting any grey til I was 35. Was I supposed to start dying my hair blonde when I turned 30 because dark hair magically starts looking weird. It is YOU who is making no sense. |
