So I'm in the UK right now and supposed to fly home from LHR on Monday. It would be inconvenient for my flight to be affected, but we at least have accommodations and can make the best of it. Does anyone think they'll be back to somewhat normal operations by Monday? |
Yes. |
Wouldn't the local news where you are have more info than us here sitting behind our computers in the USA? |
Local general news is not going to have predictive info like that. There are some here who have shown they know quite a bit about airlines and airports and their systems. A response from one of those folks is likely to me more informative. |
Yes. It isn’t the busiest time of the year. Leaving flights will be fine by then. |
I mean we all have the same internet "Heathrow’s chief executive, Thomas Woldbye, called the outage and disruption at Britain’s largest airport “unprecedented.” He vowed that the airport would be operating at “100 percent” by Saturday, however, though the ripple effects of the shutdown were expected to cause delays for travelers throughout the weekend." |
Wouldn't a travel guide have more info about places to visit than us here? Why post for suggestions? |
The local news wouldn’t have the snarky unhelpful comments like this one though. |
British news? I disagree.... |
Just an update from LHR: things seem to be running 80 percent normally. A few flights canceled, especially long haul to the US (presumably because of plane positioning) but otherwise good. My flight from IAD was late last night but there were efficient about meeting us at the gate with rebooked boarding cards for later in the day.
BA were very bad about answering the phones, but other than that, the rebooking worked quite well considering the scale of the event. I guess most of it was done electronically. |
