Thought Exercise re: LA Olympics—saving grace for US democracy or a weak point?

Who knows how Trump will be acting or what America will be like by then. It is also around campaign season so I’m sure it’s going to be interesting.

I'm so sick of Americans touting their superiority in these times. Even in sports. It's about the athlete not the country.

It is about the country the athletes are from. It's a coming together of nations.

I do not believe any countries will boycott, but I would not be surprised if many fans boycott.

I think the World Cup next year is going to go very badly. Look how few fans turned up for the Chelsea vs LAFC game earlier this week in Atlanta. That stadium holds over 71k and only 22k tickets sold. Not good at all.

I don't plan to even watch a televised Olympics if it's in the US.

Its not about countries boycotting, its about Trump's border patrol and TSA not letting people in.

Or countries having athletes and delegations refused visas. Or being afraid to send athletes or delegations because they could be disappeared to El Salvador, or Trump requiring social media checks of athletes n before they get visas or any other zillion fascist things even China never would have done.
