What are schools doing for 4th/5th literacy enrichment next year? Are any keeping ELC?

Depends on the teacher and cohort

Enrichment will also be available through Focused Instructional Time (FIT) which is a 30 minute block that schools can use daily for math and literacy enrichment and/or interventions.

Was this for your school or for MCPS? I can’t find the words to describe how angry I am that this is being introduced stealthily. They have to know parents are going to be furious about this.

This was for MCPS. I had emailed the aeiquestions email address to ask what plans were for enrichment for next school year in the local neighborhood schools.

Can you follow up and ask about the cohorting? I would say: “Are schools required to have a separate advanced ELA class using the CKLA curriculum with enrichments, if they have enough students who qualify for such a class?” Because that’s the real question.

What's the story? Any update

Cohosting is up to principal discretion. Most schools are not cohosting and are expecting teachers to offer enrichment to students who need it in an all-levels class.
