Marijuana use causes psychosis

You realize this has been studied extensively, and it’s not the case. The drugs cause the psychosis. And it’s not temporary.

I don’t know who uses marijuana but I do know that there was a period of time where my young adult son was not optimally medicated and as a result was pretty dysfunctional. During that time he used marijuana and honestly, we were relieved that he found some relief from his mental health struggles.

Completely agree

I'm 50 and have been smoking MJ for decades. After my workouts, when I write in my journal, sometimes when I meditate. I can still hold a FT job and 2 PT jobs fine. I don't drink though. Alcohol slows me down. A few tokes and I'm feeling nice, creative, in the zone, productive.

Good for you.
I'm in my 50s and know more than a handful of people who are wake and bake and who are having a rough time keeping anything of importance together.

I hope you aren't modeling the "cool" "smoking MJ for decades" bullshit for your kids. If so, you are giving them a corrosive coping mechanism and setting you and them up for a world of hurt.

Well, it's not like we have decades of weed use to render this hysterical post completely meaningless. Sure, Sally, it's possible that you can experience psychosis, but it's not the norm. You know like people who use Tylenol can experience severe liver damage but it's not the norm and we keep using it.

Ditto. If you are doing this and you have kids, you are a real loser.

Probably professional accounts.

You don’t need to smoke THC. You can eat it.

As for “scromiting” I’ve done that … it’s what happens when too much THC builds up in your system, after being stored in fat calls over time. It happens largely when you ingest concentrates.

It’s mostly just another name for “dry-heaving” and you can’t have any substances, food, alcohol or anything else except for trying to keep yourself hydrated. If you don’t know what’s happening, it’s scary, but it’s NOT going to kill you.

If nothing else it’s basically a forced cleanse of several days, easiest diet you’ve ever been on because you don’t even want to look at food.

No one goes “psychotic” on large doses of marijuana. What really happens is that you are largely incapacitated and can barely get up off the couch. But you process it and come out of it.

There have been no deaths EVER attributed to marijuana use unless you get into a car. Tell me that about any other drug.

Not a single active marijuana user on this whole thread who knows anything about what they’re squawking over

None of anyone’s business what anyone else does with something THAT WON’T KILL THEM

Ok guys lets listen to the professional pot head who thinks is ok to hurt his body so bad with his drugs he has uncontrollable vomiting and then says its good for a body cleanse you can't make this chit up.

If you were productive you wouldn't have to have three jobs.

I live in a non-smoking apartment and had a neighbor for a year who smoked pot all day long. We have forced air and I had to tape the vent off in order not to get the smoke in my apartment. We are being drugged in our own apartments. The landlord tried to evict him but housing first made it very difficult to evict people.

+1
It is so sad. Poor guy, his poor family, poor neighbors and I hope he does not have kids ... this is a heartbreaking post (and if he is growing with kids in the house - shame).

I am GenX. I knew three people in my youth for whom marijuana use seems to have triggered psychotic episodes from which they never fully recovered. I don’t know whether it was some sort of self-medicating connection where they were already spiraling quietly, and the use just sped it up, but something did happen. Two of them are still incapacitated, living in their parents’ basements. One is somewhat ok, working, but had to go on psychiatric drugs for life.

Sorry to say I know a kid who was hospitalized for what his doctors called marijuana induced psychosis ... handcuffed and walked out of high school. Causation v correlation - who knows.

This post shows your ignorance. Modern weed is not the equivalent to that in previous decades, and there is lots of emerging research on the impact of marijuana on mental health. Sure, you can ignore the statistics and put yourself at risk, but unfortunately, society is paying a big cost for that risk-taking. We have a history of alcoholism in my family and I told my kids that they needed to take that into account BEFORE starting to drink because you don't know if you will be one of the people affected until it's too late.

You know nothing about today's weed. In states where it is legal, it is regulated and safer than it was buyuing it on the street. But of course, you have an agenda against weed, so you really want to believe that it's the boogie man. Alcohol was and always will be more dangerous than weed. There is a reason that you can get a doctor to prescribe cannabis for medical issues. No one will prescribe alcohol. Also, what cost to society other than your hysteria is weed causing?
