Sure, you can submit an opinion, but what they choose to publish is laughably bad and almost entirely liberal. It's hilariously bad to read. |
Ugh. I was actually going to re-subscribe because journalism is one of the few defenses against the Trump morass but looks like Bezos is sucking the life out of the paper. |
Mmm, we quit NYTimes too because they’ve been breathless about the felon. I quit the day after the election after they posted his tough picture with headlines like “defiant.” Don’t be fooled, look at how NYT took down Biden with their reporting. This is a damning study from Penn. https://css.seas.upenn.edu/new-york-times-a-case-study-in-inconsistent-narrative-selection-and-framing-that-tends-to-favor-republicans/ I’m happier elsewhere, though can’t believe it after subscribing to both for decades. |
PP, I imagine that you’re probably rich, at least by many standards, and definitely arrogant. Now a senior citizen with a fixed income, I deliberately chose to move to a convenient, walkable neighborhood. I don’t drive, and that’s a decision that makes it safer for all of us. When I moved here, I could walk to a Safeway (now closed), a Giant (now an Amazon Fresh), and, eventually a Whole Foods — now owned by Bezos. There was also a bookstore— now long closed. Bezos, deliberately or not, has taken over some of the most essential aspects of my walkable, convenient neighborhood— that, 20 years ago, supported multiple, local, independent businesses and smaller chains. PP, you’re very vehement in your disdain for the PP that you’re responding to. “More expensive “ is nothing to you, and it’s hard for you to envision how hard “trying” might be for some of us. “What’s missing” is an understanding of the barriers that others with limited resources might face, and “what’s missing” is actual offers to help remedy those potential barriers. So, PP, I have two questions : - Do you have any practical suggestions that are safer — for all of us — than having me wandering around with difficulty in my visibly “comfy” shoes from the Metro with my granny cart in search of a MOM’s? - Do you understand that when some of us were making “good trouble” the communities involved were banding together offering rides, meals, and places to stay to people who needed them — in our collective struggle for justice? I ask, in part, because someone who “tries” is surely doing more for justice than someone who does not. If, with your diatribe, you alienate the “triers” it surely does not leave us in a better place as communities or as resisters who are doing our best if and as we can. NP (I’m one of the “little people “ that you seem to think your diatribe is helping.) |
Finally convinced my wife to cancel subscription, and am nagging my parents who were getting ripped off at $10/month also. |
DP. I really like AOC and will put my time and $ behind her, but I think some other Dems are showing her up online rn. They took her method, but everyone should because it works. I’m a bit disappointed in her. People like you have impossible standards for Dems. They yell at Warren for putting out a PSA, “Do something!” they angrily write. But, educating people about the issues are doing something important. Also, you’re mad that people showed up onsite. Let’s stop eroding the party from within. Any effort is a win. |
No longer a Trump bashing paper. Good for you! |
Sent an message telling them I did. Got back Bezos's PR blurb, signed by some shlub named Trevor. I wrote back to tell Trevor to quit being a puppet for Jeff B to her behind, if Trevor is a real person. My only regret is that I can't boycott Amazon more than I already was. |
PP is just trying to demoralize Democrats and Americans by driving a wedge. It's the old Russian trick or supporting radical viewpoints for the sole purpose of attacking people for allegedly not being radical enough. Think about it, why is that person attacking people resisting a little instead of attacking people supporting the evil? There's no justification for it, except to undermine the effort people are making. Support AOC, Warren, Warner, and the rest, and push them and each other to be more effective. Sve your "disappointment" for the Nazis. |
Yes, Bezos doesn't need the money. But, he is also obsessed with money over all else, and obsesses over every nickel like Gollum and his ring. And withdrawing your money from WaPo and sending it to reputable outlets will fund them to hire the great WaPo journalists who would otherwise be trapped working for Bezos. |

Interesting. Good to know. |
Thank you for this reminder, PP! Because mine is often a minority viewpoint, I tend to miss the manipulative nature of quite a few of the trolls and tricksters who post here. (And, yes, I am both somewhat naive and relatively new to internet comment pages.) |
Give me a break.
The media has been a left wing propaganda mouthpiece for way too long. WP trashed whichever groups of ethnicities it felt safe trashing, and nobody ever said anything. It trashed whichever ideals didn't agree with its progressive left leaning agenda, and nobody ever said anything. But touch your ideologies and freeze them out? Oh, no, the sky is falling! We are going to hell! Wah. |
The whole media being left wing is nonsense. The problem is reality doesn’t line up with your preferences. Nonsense like Fox News was created to provide you with the alternate reality you craved. |
