St. John's Benilde Program - interview?

Notification of an interview or being accepted?

Notification of being accepted. At this current time decisions have already need made and if your child is already at a private, the administration already knows who got in.

Can you explain what is meant by
Decisions are made prior to notification?

Someone decides and then they notify you.

Really lost at the previous post about notifications. The post was about getting an interview or not for a program within a school. If someone got an interview is that a good sign. I heard that a family got an interview but was waitlisted. Very interesting

Has anyone ever gotten off the waitlist for Benilde?

I don’t think they have a waitlist for Benilde. From what I’ve heard and read your either in or in with regular admissions.

Why would administrations at applicants’ current schools know this?

They send all of this information out in advance to your administration. Your admin know who gets in where from their school. They have been working with the Admissions team at each school for months now. Your school does not rely on you to provide that information. Admissions teams will also give a heads up to Admin if a particularly difficult decision may be coming so they can support that, as well.

Good luck to everyone. I know I am nervous about the decisions coming out on Friday.

We had an interview for the program but not sure if the interview is a good sign. I heard that a family was waitlist for the Benilde Program. They received this information last Friday from a school that has already released decisions.

Also, what if an applicant goes to an public school now apply to a private school, why would admissions contact the public school to let them know the decision?

Are you saying a family that applied to Benilde already found out they were waitlisted? So they received their decision early?

This must be just for parochial schools?

I do not think schools are notified in advance. That is nonsense. Maybe for a specific kid if they need more info or if the principal is pushing for them, but not all.

This is the advantage of coming from a private and catholic school. Heads of schools sit down with the admissions director and advocates for each of their kids applying. Private schools know when parents pay $50k, there needs to be placement and this works to their advantage as well. Schools are aware of decisions prior because if a call is needed to get a child off the waitlist at another school, they will make it.

Perhaps for some schools. Not for SJC Benilde.
