No, I agree with that PP. Household net worth is a stupid metric. Even if they never divorce, MANY people stay in unhappy marriages because they would lose money otherwise, so clearly there is a cost—your spouse’s net worth is not part of your net worth.

It would make so much more sense if people just referred to their individual net worth, which, for married people, would be calculated as household net worth divided by two.
