Midway through the winter, after several decent snows under our belts, greater than 4" is too much to clear immediately and is at least one day closure. For the first snow of the season, with snow plows and salt/sand trucks remembering or learning how to do it, it could be several days or, with cold temps, possibly the week.

I am skeptical about this statement.

Agreed, unless there is some weird concentration of Eastern Orthodox staff, there is not a "lot" of people taking that day off at any one school.

Agree. At our Spanish immersion school, there is, as one might expect, a higher proportion of native Spanish speakers as staff members. Two will be out on Monday for Epiphany. That is not even close to being “a lot of staff & teachers.”

I am curious to see how Reid reacts. She hasn’t had to call any big snow storms yet….

5” would close schools Monday and Tuesday and would probably cause 2 hour AM delays the rest of the week especially if mornings were very cold.

It doesn’t take 5”. Artic wind if severe enough COULD close / delay school due to walkers.

When temps are at or near 0° F, yes. It won't be anywhere near that cold though.

This is shaping up to be the real deal though. I’m usually a negative Nellie on these things, but I think we’ll get a few inches.

My apps all say 1-3 inches. That would definitely close schools for Monday, but maybe not Tuesday. Though none of it will melt on its own if they are right about temps.

She’ll conduct an internal investigation to clear all wrongdoing…

But first she’ll survey stakeholders!

And it is going to get cold so whatever falls is going to stick around. They are probably closed all week!
