I'm like this. I never buy when the jackpot is big enough to get a lot of attention. I wait until someone wins that and then but tickets. I honestly don't want a half a billion. But I'd be pretty happy with a windfall of 1-5 million. I like my life and don't desperately want to change it. But stuff like having weekly cleaners, being able to relax about retirement savings, and being able to splurge a bit in vacation sounds great. I consider myself very lucky though -- I have almost no debt. Just 200k left on a mortgage for a home worth at least 3x that. I've saved well and invested intelligently. I don't feel desperate for cash. It would just be nice. |
| Everyone always says “Consult with a financial advisor” — where do you find someone to help? I don’t run in circles where people have someone on speed dial who knows what to do with tens (let alone hundreds) of millions of dollars. |
OP here. I read a Forbes article about this, too. This article refers to a firm that advises the ultra wealthy. https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnjennings/2024/01/31/youve-just-won-the-lottery-now-what/ |
