However, he want to go to D1 school(he got pick up some D3 colleges on his Sophomore year in ID camps/Varsity player in HS). If he join the ECNL in 2025, is it too late to be pick by D1 school? I know that some Junior ECNL player got pick up by D1 school already.

If he’s good enough, then yes. The boys process is much later than the girls. Also switching could help to get attention from better D3 schools

Right now is when you start seeing heavier recruitment of junior year boys. The college season is over and coaches have a pretty good idea who is coming in for next season. They have more time to start looking at 2026 grads.

That’s absurd. If foreigners were better players and would help their teams win, colleges would do it in a second and it would be applauded. College basketball teams have been recruiting internationally for years and it’s not an issue.

Basketball teams might have one international player on the floor. Some of these soccer teams have 8 or 9 internationals starting.

Yeah because they are better players. Why is that a problem for you?

Not PP but because they are not American. I do see limits coming on both sides for colleges and internationals. I have heard that what is being pushed is 5 internationals per D1 team excluding Canada and Mexico who would not be treated as international. That is just a proposal but it is where the people advocating this are starting.

Male side is late and very different from the women.

There were 8 seniors and 7 5th years on the roster Freshmen year. Only 2 “true” Freshmen.

Oh—just was reading the NCAA is thinking of switching from 4 years of eligibility to 5 years. This will make it even harder …

+1. Soccerwire lists only 3 commits for 2026 boys, while toms for the girls. And, yes, I know it’s not fully accurate and not everyone reports—but it’s representative of the different timelines.

We had our kids continue to develop and choose schools on academics first. We are seeing much later recruiting and kids getting on teams at much older ages. This informed how we are dealing with our current junior—not wasting $ and resources now—but looking at a much longer timeline. Older one sat out freshmen year of college too and got on team 2nd year. D1. He was known to the coaches, but developed physically later and also had injury.
