It’s so sad they don’t just ask you, the man with all the easy answers.

Spoken like an idiot dem. Clearly, more regulations, taxes, and govt pensions will grow the economy.

What companies? The government is the largest employer by far. The vast majority of private sector employment is in consumer services, eg retail and restaurants. The state of Maryland does not make anything. It does not produce anything. It does not create added value in anything. Furthermore, after spending enough time around Maryland politics, what I have sadly learned is that more taxes do not translate into more and better services. Higher taxes principally just go to pay increases for government workers. So it we end up paying more the same.

Maryland has a lot of pharmaceutical and medical industry. There’s also a fair bit of Ag and some food manufacturing plants in the rural areas. Some tourism as well obviously. There are also decent sized law firm, accounting firms and financial services firms based in bethesda, as well as Marriot of course.

Government is the largest employer in Virginia, also by far. Nova is actually losing jobs, and that's before Trump even takes office. No surprise that Nova is facing huge budget deficits.

Dems will never cut spending. In fact, they'll probably even spend more. Expect MD to turn into a state like NJ and IL where they obliterate their residents with taxes.

This. Which is why when we got fed up with politics and crime in DC we moved to
VA.

Maryland desperately needs to cut taxes and regulations.

They are wasting an opportunity to attract businesses which want/need to be close to DC, and Virginia will gladly accept those $$ if MD keeps its high taxes and business-unfriendly laws / regulations.

After this past Presidential election I think the Dem party is over as a force for a while. It will be like Mao or Castro - hiding in the woods

The woods are now states like Maryland, California and Vermont.

wut?

Indeed.

Up: Virginia.

Down: Maryland.

Why not just raise tuition at University of Maryland, to make up the shortfall?

What happened to all the money we were supposed to get from legalizing gambling? I thought that all went to education. What a joke.

Wait when the new administration shuts down every government agency in Maryland. There's a lot of them too.

You think the federal government is going to help out a blue state that's in the red?
