Does your husband have an office in DC? Maybe you could use that address. Your place on the lottery all depends on the address. You could also get an online mailbox with an address you like, they anytimemailbox. Good luck.

you can put any address on the lottery app even without actually being able to get mail there, but if you get in you have to show proof of residency (like a lease) to actually enroll.

Calle Ocho is pretty close to the MBT too, we biked to the small Catholic school next to it when our kids went there.

If you like the idea of Mundo Verde my take is that the parents at Calle ocho are MUCH happier. And that neighborhood is really cute and affordable.

I was surprised to see Cook’s test scores higher, but, yeah, Fort Totten/Michigan Park seems to be pretty affordable.

MV Calle Ocho has a long waitlist in ECE so much lower probability of getting a spot.

Those few blocks from MBT to MVP are super sketchy both from a traffic and a gun violence perspective. I would not want to go by Tyler House and SOME 4x/day (taking kid there, going home, getting kid, going home) 180 days a year.

You wouldn't go by either of those places between MBT and MVP.
Lots of families do bike or bus. Still not a problem-free area, though.

How would you go? If you take FL to NY to P (old Dave Thomas Circle), that is not a safe bike route. If you take N, you end up on the corner between Big Ben and Tyler House.

So many families do this every day. On Wed mornings there is even a group ride (Bike bus).

Take MBT to Q St, cross N Cap. Come down N Cap to P.

Take MBT to R, ride across to N Cap or 1st St NW, ride south to P.

If you want to stay south, MBT to ramp (M St), up 1st St NE, FL Ave for a block then cross on P St.
