This whole post is misleading. Soccer fields were used all across the DMV. The tournament hasn’t been this big in a long time. It was a success. |

If there is any tournament in the DMV that should be ashamed of itself it s the The Virginian and SYC.
Rec tournaments are better run. Rec teams only showed up on the girls side this year, which is not a surprise considering SYC girls teams were in the third tier of their own tournament and still were not competitive. |
Spoken like someone monitoring this thread from Bethesda. The tournament being big is only a metric someone from Bethesda would really care about because that just means more money. Big doesn't equate to quality or success. And from the posts here, and the title of the thread, I think it is now pretty much accepted that the tournament was not and is not quality. Doesn't matter how big it was. Northwest Stadium (former FedEx field) was one of the biggest stadiums in the NFL but the fan experience is weak. This tournament may have been big but the overall experience for the teams and players was weak. |
The sooner Bethesda accepts that the brand just isn't what it used to be, and starts committing to changing itself, the better off the club will be. |
