Below is a list of teams currently in playoff positions going into the last few games of the year (minus 2012 and 2011 teams which still have an entire spring of matches)

Arlington: 3 Teams - 2012, 2011, 2009
Beach: 0 Teams
Fairfax: 2 Teams - 2012, 2010
NVA: 1 Team - 2012
Richmond: 4 Teams - 2012, 2011, 2009, 2008
VDA: 5 Teams - 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007/2006

The most concerning thing is the lack of older teams that are in playoff positions in the local area. Maybe other markets are doing a better job at developing, or maybe they just have better players.

Wow VDA 5 teams and NVA only have 1 team?

Revolution has 0? Gotta be wrong!

I don’t think any GA team in the DMV would make ECNL playoffs if in ECNL. This thread is referencing ECNL teams.

Once Arlington 2009’s play Richmond and VDA in the coming weeks, they are sure to fall out of top 4 and Union moves into that spot. Add in the half spot for 07/06 and that’s now 3.5 teams in.

Agree that the Union 09s are in a good spot if they finish their last 2 games strong vs Arlington and NVA, but the Union 12s aren't exactly shoe-ins to hold onto 4th place, so there could be slippage there.

...also NC Courage and NVA will be in the league cup semis (and Wilmington is still alive for a spot in the semis), so the 4th spot itself might not mean Champions League at the 09 level.

If Arlington 12s lose this weekend to Richmond, Union will actually be ahead of them. Same goes for if Richmond loses. But yea there are a lot of games to be played by all teams.

4th slot for 09s will end up going to Fairfax or NVA. Going to be a battle for that.

Can anyone share more about the coaches getting fired? Would that actually happen this time of year or is this just dcum trolling?

Union and VDA are stable.

NVA fired RP and their 08s did better this weekend after he left. They also fired NS from their 08s and 09s but both teams ranked after he left.

Arlington is also stable but not a great club.
