Take it now, don't wait. A z pack is a steroid.

I started zpack which is the antibiotic. It's not a steroid. The steroid I will tomorrow morning because you take 6 the first day and space them apart.

This sounds a lot like how my son’s illness started out - sore throat, low fever, fatigue, then cough. He was diagnosed with mycoplasma pneumonia, which is apparently rampant in our area at the moment. They prescribed a Z pack. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

Did it help? I took 2 doses so far. Or one dose- the two on the first day. My fever comes back when meds wear off and coughing so violently my abdomen hurts

Take the steroid, it will help with the cough and open up the breathing.

I had the same thing. The “it’s just a virus!” Or “Covid” do everyone a disservice by preventing them or talking them out of getting the care they needed by pretending to know what’s wrong with them on the internet. Just listed to your care providers and doctors and stop listening to the nutters on here.

It’s ok to start it now. Do one tonight. The longer you wait the harder it is on you. I’ve started at half dats no issue.

except OP went to the doctor for a sore throat and now has entirely different symptoms … it’s not even clear that steroids are appropriate for treating this but hey, just take all the meds!
