Op here- sore throat is vastly improved. Now I have horrendeous head cold with fever (low grade usually like 99 or 100 but was 101 middle of the night) and occasional coughing fits that feel almost violent and hurts my torso, and has a bit of a wheeze to them. I def don't think strep. Just concerned about pneumonia or a bronchitis

So take the antibiotics. What’s the issue?

They prescribed antibiotics and steroid pack. It was mostly to address throat. I guess I need to page them. Don't want to be on some

the likelihood of it being a bacterial infection is extremely low. that’s the point. sore throat followed by upper respiratory symptoms and a fever is a classic viral patter. flu, covid, some other seasonal virus are all more likely. it’s always possible to get a *secondary* bacterial pneumonia but that’s not what this started out as. throwing antibiotics and prednisone at a sore throat is kind of crappy medical care. if OP has developed pneumonia that’s a different thing and he should go back to the dr to assess.

antibiotics have side effects … he’s having totally different symptoms now than when they were first prescribed.

Wednesday night had low fever. Thursday felt ok but woke up middle of night razor feeling in throat. I wish I could attach my cough sound lol

yeah, you’re just still sick with the virus. that’s just 3-4 days. I’d personally give it another 2 days and if you still haven’t turned the corner, back to the doctor.
