They haven't completely wiped him from the website but he has been removed from the staff directory:

Guye was not the problem at JO. |
Brunson isn't the one who 'fixed' anything at JO. They had already removed the problem teachers. Brunson is a standard issue DCPS principal. He is fine. But let's not tell this weird narrative that he solved all the issues and that GT was the problem. GT was not the problem. |
It was always very unclear what went down with GT at JO. He was not the problem. 2 bully teachers were the problem. He did not deal with them effectively for awhile (complaints seemingly fell on deaf ears), but suddenly they were dealt with and GT was fired. Did DCPS fire him for not dealing with the bully teachers effectively? Did he stand up to DCPS, get the bully teachers moved and then they fired him? Was his firing unrelated to the 2 bully situation, but it all happened at once while there was a spotlight on JO? It was never clear to me. |
Not sure how accurate my tea is, but I was told that there was an inappropriate interaction between a PreK teacher and a student. Mr. Guye was attempting to gather facts internally instead of reporting the incident immediately to CFSA and letting them investigate. |
that would make sense given that all staff are now re-doing their mandatory reporter training |
GT was an original staffer at TR. He was there for the first go around with this issue. |
what was the first go around? |
Would totally make sense. He’s a mandatory reporter so once the Board found out they had no choice. I bet he wasn’t badly intentioned just dumb. TR had been down this path before and should be terrified of a lawsuit. |
Why on earth is this a repeat problem at TR?? That is especially concerning as my impression has always been that the big selling point for TR is a nurturing ECE program. So repeat issues with teacher behavior especially in those grades is particularly alarming. |
What are you basing this on? Their website? Marketing collateral? There are numerous, long-standing issues with TR--leaders, admin, curriculum and behavior management approach (or lack thereof on both counts). Search this forum. Talk to former parents, maybe even the ones who have sued TR (and won). It's all empty mission statements, performative social justice messaging, and opaque management of personnel matters. --former TRY parent |
That’s it. |
Two things can be true at the same time: it has always been a selling point and there are longstanding systemic issues that undermine the marketing collateral. --former TR4 parent |
Why will no one say what happened the last time? |
I base it on being a parent who lives in the neighborhood and having known a decent number of TR4 families and they tend to rave about it for PK-K and then get dissatisfied and leave. So my impression was that it's pretty good at ECE and that was the main draw. I've even mentioned it to families who are worried about getting into our IB for ECE as a backup option for PK since the waitlists seem to move faster than at other schools and parents seemed happier with the ECE there than other options. But hearing something like this means I'm going to stop doing that because it's a huge red flag. |
