Some background for those who are interested: Turner was briefly the principal of nearby a DCPS between stints at Two Rivers but his 1-year contract there was terminated early under very non-transparent circumstances. That school (JO Wilson) has since gotten a principal who seems to have settled things down and created stability and an upward trajectory there. https://www.washingtoninformer.com/community-leaders-parents-condemn-dismissal-of-wilson-principal/
The situation at JO was very out in the open with public meetings and such. There were adults at JO who were bullies and harmful and unkind to children and other educators and Mr. Turner stood up to them and rocked the boat with central administration about it.
Yes that was ultimately the story that came out but if Turner has now been fired midyear from TR4 it raises some questions. Especially since the principal who replaced Turner at JOW appears to have have addressed that issue and I have not heard of reports of kids being bullied or unkind to kids in years there. So perhaps the situation is different than we all thought at the time. Which is why it would be useful if someone from TR4 would explain what happened. Transparency in these issues is important for the community (and also actually decreases gossip).
Brunson isn't the one who 'fixed' anything at JO. They had already removed the problem teachers. Brunson is a standard issue DCPS principal. He is fine. But let's not tell this weird narrative that he solved all the issues and that GT was the problem. GT was not the problem.
It was always very unclear what went down with GT at JO. He was not the problem. 2 bully teachers were the problem. He did not deal with them effectively for awhile (complaints seemingly fell on deaf ears), but suddenly they were dealt with and GT was fired. Did DCPS fire him for not dealing with the bully teachers effectively? Did he stand up to DCPS, get the bully teachers moved and then they fired him? Was his firing unrelated to the 2 bully situation, but it all happened at once while there was a spotlight on JO? It was never clear to me.
