I am!!!! That's my whole point. My kid doesn't have a peanut allergy but I would never bring it to the park because even the thought of potentially harming someone else's child is enough for me to not to it. My kid eats plenty of peanut butter at home. He is doing just fine and is not deprived in any way. |
Hope someone brings their unleashed pitty just to even the paying field. |
Please don't. This isn't about being "inconsiderate". It's about preventing a fatal accident. My son has an anaphylactic reaction to peanut ingestion. We knew someone who had a service dog to sniff out allergens before she came into a room. There are a lot more peanut allergies today, for some unknown reason, than there were a generation ago.
We're foreign Asians, BTW. In our Asian cuisine, there are no peanuts. Nobody else in our family is allergic to peanuts, but then, nobody was exposed to it at a young age through American peanut butter. I know people think that too much cleanliness and lack of exposure is driving up allergies, but for our son, that does not seem to be the case. I know some people will always complain that their privileges and freedom are being stomped on when they're asked to consider other people's lethal conditions... but come on. Even if my kid didn't have this extreme allergy, I would do this for other families. It's not a big ask, to stop my kid from spilling allergens on the playground, or touching someone else with a known allergen. Eat at the picnic table, clean up after yourself, it's only good manners after all. |
I’ll bring my gun so no problem. |
Of course you will. You're a stellar human. We know. |
JFC you are unhinged. |
No one is making it hard on them. They have to assume every space has it. |
We know this thread is absolutely absurd, so why not? The allergy moms are doing a fabulous job of trying to discourage this behavior. This is exactly how to change hearts and minds. Keep it up! |
BECAUSE OF INCONSIDERATE ASHHHOOOLLLLESSS LIKE YOU!!!!!! YOU ARE THE PROBLEM. |
So you thought bringing a dog to attack kids was ok, but a gun that’s too far? You’re a serious person I cantell. |
It’s super selfish if you to think that we have to adjust to some theoretical allergy sufferer may show up. There are millions of other places they can go. |
I'm assuming you also send your contagious, sick child to school because "if others don't like it, they can just stay at home." Also, normal people don't need to be convinced not to be horrible. It comes naturally out of compassion for others. |
I did not say that. I’m not sure if you know this but posts here is anonymous so it’s incredibly difficult (if not impossible) to know who posted what. |
Yes, so much compassion in this ridiculous name calling thread. |
The peanut butter allergy kids lost my sympathy when they made trouble for us. We made the mistake of being inclusive by inviting all the kids (and parents) to walk to the local ice cream shop. Shop was out of vanilla ice cream. Mother marched to school and made a huge issue out of the public ice cream run invitation.
Really? Really? Everyone has to tiptoe around the outliers, instead of the outliers learning to develop a little resilience? Obviously a playground is going to be touched by all kinds of little hands, with all kinds of goop on those little hands. If you got allergies, learn to assess your risk and to avoid the riskier situations. |
