We’re surviving nothing if Harris gets in.

And yet crime levels in almost every city are dropping. So we seem to be surviving just fine. Maybe even thriving.

Yes. The sky seems to be staying where it should, despite what that other PP says about it. AND the economy is doing great.

Is that why we are on track to have the highest homeless population ever? Because the economy is doing great?

Highest homeless population ever, and yet Democrats are spending public funds to house illegal immigrants and are prioritizing them over homeless Americans and veterans.

Please cite a source for this. I attempted to look into this claim myself and only came across a program in Denver which is designed for migraines seeking asylum (so therefore: not undocumented) since they are ineligible to work for 6 months.

Typo **migrants

People have forgotten too quickly what happened under Trump for four years. It's amazing they want more of that.

Democrats want to protect everything but our borders. They believe every economic migrant from all over the world has a right to enter our country illegally. That’s all their “border bill” was - a bill to process mass numbers of illegal immigrants into country and release them with immediate work permits. What a solution

We have literally had over 10 million people enter our country illegally. The sheer numbers are astounding and dwarf the populations of many states and foreign countries. I cannot support a party that shows such disregard for our sovereignty and security. We have seen the negative effects of the Biden-Harris migrant invasion on communities all over the country, and it would only get worse with a second term if this administration, now with open border czar Kamala in charge.

This all sounds very reasonable, but it isn’t. For starters, yes there are that many illegal immigrants, but they have come here over *decades*. Most of them are married to our parents of American citizens at this point. Most of them have jobs and pay taxes and are not eligible to receive most federal benefits, so they are a net economic positive to the country. You probably neither understand nor care that this is the truth.

The second massive lie you promulgate is that somehow Democrats are in favor of open borders. This is outrageously untrue. Obama and now Biden have had peak deportations greater than what Trump had. Open border? Why did Trump do such a bad job of securing the border during his four years, including constant illegal activities, and why do people think it was somehow some kind of miracle?

And, if that weren’t enough, remember what Trump had said in 2016? Build the wall. He massively failed to build the wall. And now what is he saying this time? Deport all of them. He will fail at that too, absolutely. I’d rather have somebody who doesn’t have a strong policy but fulfills it than somebody who proclaims he will do an amazing thing and does nothing.

Did we not have greater numbers of illegal immigrants during Biden than Trump?

I’m not a fan of Harris but we can survive four years of her because we will have a divided congress to handcuff her domestically but she will support our international alliances, defend Ukraine and not create international economic chaos with tariffs. Trump will be unleashed and create chaos as he has promised and his love of international tyrants will wreck any alliances we have. What we need is for Trump to retire to Florida and find a few moderate republicans like Larry Hogan to rise up and bring the party back to its roots in fiscal conservatism, social tolerance and international leadership. We haven’t had that kind of republican leadership since George H. W. Bush. Mitt Romney is about the only Republican in Congress to stand up for the real party but we need others to come out of the closet but right now they fear the MAGA crowd.

How do you know we will have a divided Congress? We could have a government under Democrat control that eliminates the filibuster and passed the most far-left agenda in history.

I am a Republican voter and I would not vote for the type of Republican nominee you are proposing. The never Trump movement is always talking about remaking the party, but you don’t seem to consider that the majority of Republican voters don’t want your type of nominee. There was a primary election and your type of nominee lost overwhelmingly.

+1. Move on, OP, or better, yet, wake up and smell the coffee. Your brand of "Republicanism" is nothing more than inside-the-beltway elitism.

I've been in Washington, off and on in politics, for 30 years and have seen many cycles of this. The Romney/ Bush brand of Republicanism is dying the slow death it deserves. The Republicans are now truly the party of the working people, those who do not live in leafy DC suburbs and profit off the system no matter who is in office.

Spend some time working for the Trump campaign in PA or southern VA and you'll see what I mean.

Explain to me one Trump policy that benefits the working people? Besides exporting brown people.

Keeping us out of WW3.
No taxes on tips or overtime.
Returning to sanity in culture wars.
Returning manufacturing to the US to bring back working class jobs.

The reason we have higher homelessness is not because of illegal immigration. At all. It’s because of tight supply and high costs. Harris proposes to offer buyer incentives, builder incentives, and improve permitting, all of which have been shown in the past to be beneficial. Trump proposes to deport immigrants, privatize Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and slash zoning restrictions, none of which have been shown in the past to be workable or beneficial.

If you care about the homeless population, and it sounds like you do, then logically you’re voting Harris.

They are taking up needed low income housing space.

It’s all over the country. The worst is New York City putting them up in luxury hotels and special shelters.

There is a lot of misinformation conflating immigrants and illegal immigrants. A quick Google search shows these programs are for asylum seekers.

These are economic migrants gaming the system. The human traffickers that escorted them to our border gave them a script to give to the border agents to pass the initial asylum interview and now they have 5-6 years to wait for their hearing. At which time they will have popped out a few babies and will plead to the judge that they have roots here now and their American born children would suffer if they're deported. Lather rinse repeat. It. Is. A. Scam.

Yes, it is a scam! But it’s also illegal not to let people claim asylum and have a hearing. So we can’t *not* do this unless we want to break a law. The bipartisan immigration reform bill contained provisions to greatly increase the people on the legal side of this so that immigrants who are found not to have a valid claim can be deported more quickly. Trump killed that bill.

Yes, it is a scam! To get out of it, would you like to have us break the law or will you be voting for the convicted felon that has tried very very hard to perpetuate the scam to boost his election chances?

Trump said today capping interest on credit cards at 10% for a temporary period! Won my vote with that.

People lock their houses to keep out all the crazy MAGAs and their guns.

The MAGA lies and hyperbole are so exhausting.

There will be no solutions at the border until Trump and his lying cronies are voted out. Vote in some lawmakers who actually want to work with the other side of the aisle and create legislation instead of lying and grandstanding while actually doing nothing.

The market will stop providing credit to people who can’t afford to pay off their balance in full.

Personally, living within one’s means sounds like a good idea to me, but know what the consequences are.
