We should hang out! Lol |
Worried about a crust’s 25 (?) “empty calories” and carbs… while eating junk food pizza.
|
| Why are you paying this close attention to something this random. No one cares if you don't finish a pizza slice. |
| Hard, lukewarm, flavorless, nutrition-less bread is not worth eating. I eat like 75% of pizza crusts, but I have my limits. |
You don’t wash your hands before eating? |
| I make a damn fine crust. It often gets eaten first! |
Maybe you’d better enjoy chicken tendies in the shape of dinosaurs the next time you’re at dinner with your spouse. |
| You are in the minority. |

For take out pizza, I never eat the crust. Maybe if I had sauce to dip it in, I would. Otherwise, it's too dry and too filling. I'm going for another slice (up to the point of the crust!) instead of eating the crust.
When we make pizza at home, I have leftover sauce to dip, so I'm more inclined to dip and eat it. |
Because they don’t taste good. Pizza crust is just a delivery mechanism for the toppings. |
| Yes it’s weird. Like the adult that gets a plain burger or salad dressing on the side. |
Yea cuz there’s so much nutrition from pizza sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. |
Why is that your example rather than, say, my fave, which is topped with sautéed spinach, chopped garlic, and fresh tomato? Or my DH’s, which is mushroom and green pepper? But mozzarella, pepperoni, and tomato sauce are not devoid of nutrients at all, given the amount of protein, vitamins and calcium they offer. Do you want to eat those slices all the time? No, too much sodium, nitrates, and saturated fat. But but they are absolutely fine for the occasional meal, especially with the guilt order of salad. |
| I did have one experience where I was viscerally put off by someone not eating a pizza crust. My wife and I went on a food tour in Naples led a local guide and which ended at a traditional Neapolitan pizzeria. Each of us was served our own individual margarita pizza that came uncut. Two women were sitting near us each proceeded to cut out the entire center of each pizza and ate it, leaving a completely intact donut ring of crust. I thought it was a tone deaf and offensive approach to a local culture’s traditional cuisine. |
