High School Principal's Welcome Email was likely Chat GPT Generated

If it is forbidden for students to use, then it's hypocritical.

This made me roll my eyes. Can teachers/admin also not use calculators? Can they google answers? Can they use their cell phones during the day?

Student expectations are not adult expectations. Tools are tools.

LMAO! All I can say is “wow” in terms of the original post and the others stating that they ran their principal letters through ChatGPT. Must be nice to have so much free time on your hands that THIS is what gets you riled up.

My kids go to GDS. They’ve been there since Pre-K. While these principal letters can seem a bit boilerplate at times, they genuinely come off like the individuals who wrote them. Maybe if some of you actually took the time to have a conversation with the principals that might be obvious.

Whoever wrote that the GDS HS principal compared herself to Gandhi either clearly didn’t read the letter or has an agenda. Here is an exact lift from her letter:
“However, I've learned that there are two essential ways to approach feedback. Firstly, I see it as a valuable opportunity for growth. It allows us to examine our actions and ensure they align with our intentions. Secondly, I acknowledge that it's impossible to please everyone. Even the most revered figures like Gandhi and Mother Theresa had their critics. I remind myself that each person comes from a unique place with their own set of experiences, shaping their reactions. We can't always understand where people are coming from.”
To twist her words to fit your “narrative” is beyond weird.

FYI: For giggles I ran the GDS principal letters through ChatGPT. It said they were not AI written. But at the end of the day… what damn difference would it make? As long our children are getting a quality education why should something like this be the talking point?

There is a lot to complain about in terms of the school. Teacher turnover, the head of school’s salary, just to name a few. But this? Really? Grow up.

Yes to this. Stop the racists attacks on Yom, trolls.

I don't think anyone said the GDS letter was AI. It was clearly too personal to be so.

It is the title of the thread, and basis for all the posts, you are commenting on. It was a prior dumb post of day winner

I've been a GDS parent for 10+ years. Three kids there as lifers. Two done. One in HS now. I've been here from Kevin Barr through Katie and now Yom. And yes things have changed. Some for the better and some for the worse.

I take great offense at the moronic posts below. How on earth is anything in this thread racist?

Can people not find fault with the HS principal without you accusing them of racism? You are truly brainwashed.

Here's the deal - ask your HS kids. They mostly don't like Yom. Why? She's not present. She is barely seen anywhere. Quinn runs the HS. That's their impression. I sense that's true. Plus Yom got rid of some of the freedoms that HS'ers enjoyed. Finally the DCC process that she promulgates is viewed s being unfair, heavy handed, and badly run. She will not engage on it w/ parents or kids.

There's nothing racist in this or on this thread. You are the racist one imaging racists ghosts at GDS. This is how we raise a generation of fragile kids who are entirely unprepared for life and are threatened by any real talk about accountability and performance.

the OP wrote that one of the GPT checkers identified her letter as having similarity to AI content. Another poster quoted her Gandhi quote (which was at best poorly phrased but well intended)

Since seeing this debate about firstly/secondly - I heard a UK broadcaster from a internationally respected news organization use firstly/secondly, so it could be an American-English vs UK & Commonwealth-English cultural difference.

The OP who started the thread was not referring to GDS - it was another poster who brought up GDS letter mis-thread to comment on the content of the letter (as a side note to chat gpt).
