Thinking of Buying an Audi - Please share your experience

just traded in our 2021 Q7. So many mechanical issues! Had to replace the fuel pump, water pump and the alternator 2 times. Then had an electrical problem they could find fix. Had no confidence once the warranty ran out. I will say the car is fun to drive and I do miss that part.

Porsche only German/Euro auto worth the $$ IMO. Not a cheap to repair, maintain by any means but much more reliable/durable vs other Euros so cost to own less. Also holds reseals value. I own an auto repair shop. Seen everything.

Disagree. They’re not poorly engineered, they’re OVERengineered.

It is fine - nothing to get excited about.
I have had several bmws; including an m5 6 speed back in the day.
A q7 is not that experience.

It is our family car for moving kids around and we use it to the beach with our large dog that it is not ideal for.

I would say it is a step up
From our Acura Rdx for luxury. The Acura has had more issues than the Audi.

Do you use the 3rd row in the Q7?

Yes - when the kids were younger all the time.
Now they are teens and our carpool days are behind us for the most part.
I probably will get rid of it next year because as the kids are bigger, dog is big; the car is not big enough for family trips with luggage and dog.

The thing that I never liked about the car is it does not have a spare tire. Uses run flats and that always made me nervous for family trips. I would not buy another car without a spare tire. I am weird I guess.

no your not weird....idiots put in run flats on luxury cars and when you get a flat on a family trip...you are going to cry. BTDT. We just purchased a 2023 lexus gX - full spare tire.

Not hijack thread but how do you like the GX?
I am debating between that, the lx and new infinity q80.

As for my q7, it is almost 6 years old and still worth about 35k. So it did ok on depreciation- I just got my offer from my Audi dealer when it was in for service.

Love mine but it’s on the way to the shop with a $2000 repair

There’s a class action lawsuit we are still waiting on to get some financial relief from our money pit. We purchased new and still had issues. Would not purchase used, ever.

Which model and years are part of the lawsuit? I filed a complaint with NHTSA for my 2018 Q7. A $7K estimate for a front side marker light error flashing and beeping at me is absurd (the light actually works). It also needs $3K in other work.

We purchased the 2022 gx, not the newer one (don’t care for the v6 tt toyota engines). Pre 2022 gx are conventional v8 - and the standard tire. Life is too stressful to deal with unreliable cars, dealers, etc. old school Lexus/Toyota are bulletproof. Yes, yea they are not “fun to drive” but that’s not important to us

Same engines, factories, builds, and great cars but what can I say? It doesn’t have the same brand appeal. Every guy out there who owns a Porsche or vintage Aston Martin or whatever. Their spouse? They drive a Volkswagen.

Isn't Audi a part of Volkswagen?

DH loves his 2016 S5. Original Manual transmission. Car runs great. Only scheduled maintenance needed.

We purchased a used A3 convertible for DS last year. Also no problems.

Audi is to VW as Lexus is to Toyota

Any thoughts on getting a BMW x3 CPO, 25,000 miles with an added extended warranty out to 7 years?

Sure..ok with CPO and ext warranty but keep min mind you are paying for that “peace of mind” with this 25k bimmer. Then get rid of it just prior to the ext warranty coverage expiration. Yolo

My wife 's car got totaled by a hit and run. Our insurance guy said buy anything but these three brands. Audi was one of them. The other two were German cars. So she bought a Lexus.
