In these conservative families, you have to do that to be "allowed " to go out on your own. |
I don't see Jill in the bridal group/kiss photo. That makes me sad, if she wasn't there. |
Wait wait wait. They were engaged for two months and got married on a Thursday?
Is she already pregnant? I mean good for her either way but hmm. And no I am not judging. My trajectory was very similar. |
She looks like a new woman with a middle part. Get it, Jana! |
That was always my theory -- who would want to sign up for pumping out kid after kid while being "joyfully available" to some sketchy fundie dude who was picked out by your parents? She knows how that story goes, she’s watched the misery unfold over and over again. Delaying marriage for as long as you can is the only form of birth control available. All of the eldest daughters in all my extended family (everyone had big Catholic families) stayed unmarried and child free by choice. They were/are amazing aunties to all of us nieces, nephews and cousins, but I think they just spent so much time in a mothering role as kids they felt no need to take on more in adulthood. |
How did that get approved? |
![]() For comparison, here’s the first Duggar daughter wedding. Jana sewed extra length into the bridesmaid dresses for modesty. |
k That bridesmaid color is horrible. |
She looks beautiful in the pictures! The wedding doesn’t have the bargain basement look the other Duggars have had. |
There in their 30s so it's not really that surprising and they have likely been dating for a while. I wonder if she has been on the verge of wanting to break away and has been questioning for a long time and her sisters speaking out against their upbringing did help push her to move forward. I really hope in all those years she at least pursue higher education. It seems like such a waste of an adult life to just sit around your parents house and do nothing with oneself. |
I never got the sense she was doing nothing. She contributed massively to raising those kids and keeping up the house. Which as a feminist, should be her choice, but these things have value. She was going to nursing school. She enjoys crafting. She seemed to always have a social and travel schedule. Getting married doesn’t mean she’s now “doing something”….in fact, with her move, it may take her away from school and hobbies (which again, is entirely her choice). |
According to the People article she did start nursing school last year, so that is something. I feel sad for her that she had to sell her wedding photos to People magazine because her father makes her. |
Is Jessa pregnant? She looks bigger than normal. |
Is the husband also a fundie? I hope she is happy. |
What kind of question is that? And why use a slur to describe someone’s religious beliefs? |
