| How come she didn’t see how bad she is at breaking? |
| The audacity of the caucacity. |

A 2018 Olympic skier caused a rule change after her performance. She figured out that to qualify, you just needed to place in the top 30 in a World Cup event — but the field rarely had 30 competitors, so she just needed to enter and complete a run. Viola! And - of course - she had to compete for a country other than USA. |
Good question. She either did and didn’t care Or she is totally clueless and stupid |
Yuck. I hate people who abuse the system. |
Nah. Best break dancers I know are Japanese |
How many break dancers do you know, exactly? I don’t know any. I only know a couple of Olympians — one was karate the other canoing |
Tokyo ni sunde toki, takusan! |

Unfortunately, breakdancing is not and has never been a sport. Competitions are loosely scored and widely subjective. It is also a very outdated dance style that peaked in the 1980s. People who would have been competition-worthy in breakdancing are all in their 40s and 50s by now and not spinning on their heads anymore. It was a very poor choice of event at the Olympics.
Most Olympic sports have an international governing body to define the competition rules for the sport as well as requirements for participation in the Olympic games. In most cases, athletes must have participated in both national and international competitions to be allowed to compete at the Olympics. Breakdancing has none of that which brought forth RayGunn and her extreme lack of talent and physical skill. She looked like a drunk auntie at a wedding. |
Thank goodness! |
That would include figure skating and gymnastics. |
I don’t think Raygun is the reason the events were discontinued. Each host gets to choose a certain number of sports to include. Paris chose breakdancing. LA is adding lacrosse and cricket and removing breakdancing and other sports. |
The IOC does it themselves. |
Gymnastics includes some pretty easy-to-measure feats of strength and agility that I think earn it a place separate from these other judges sports. There's some dumb stuff but like vault and high bar are extremely straight forward and it's easy to understand how they are scored and why one person outperformed another. There are some weird idiosynchrasies but the tumbling and a lot of the skills are virtuosic and easy to evaluate. Plus after track and field it's one of the sports with the clearest ties to the original Greek Olympics. Agree figure skating is super weird. |
+1 France added breakdancing as a one-time deal. It was never expected at future games although it's not off the table, technically. At the 2028 Olympics in LA, we will have baseball, softball, flag football, lacrosse, and cricket. And no breakdancing. |
