Is this a joke? These are old-lady-at-the-grocery-store-with-holes-in-the-toes-of-her-suntan-colored-kneehi-nylons-because-toenails-are-too-long shoes. They pair with loud pink lipstick that is applied to the teeth as well as the lips and hair that is matted in back like one just got out of bed. "Fun colors." OMG. No.

Apparently I’m wearing them wrong then. I wear the green/teal ones with normal clothes and no nylons and get lots of compliments each time I wear them.

The fact that nylons even entered your thought process means you're old and unfashionable. So yes, they probably looked appropriate on you.

Y’all are petty. I only mentioned nylons in response to then previous damning critique of mg footwear.

I’m a teacher. Like OP. I get compliments from other teachers.

Thank you everyone for your judgemental and helpful replies.

I got these and they are GREAT. I don't think they're too ugly and my most judgemental friends agree.

My knees and back hurt for DAYS after open house when I wore ballet flats. So, those days are done.

I am 41, 5'11, and have spent the summer shoeless..

PP I think the PP was especially mean, or trolling you. We teachers have to stick together! We are on a budget and on our feet all day!

OP here and they actually look WAY better on and in person. I was highly skeptical before purchasing, especially with the review, but these are great and look much on that in these photos.

What’s with all the shock about toes!?

Some of the posters in this thread are reacting to the idea of open-toed shoes the way a Victorian might respond to an exposed ankle.

Personally, I tend to be conservative and modest (boring? and prudish?) about fashion, but at least I don’t get the vapors over seeing someones toes.

DP

Most schools have a student dress code requiring sneakers or another closed-toe shoe.

While the teacher isn’t a student, they should model appropriate behavior.

I’m Gen X and went to private school where male teachers wore suits and female teachers wore dresses or pantsuits. Why? Because school was taken seriously.

Now teachers wear jeans or leggings with t-shirts and sneakers. Neato!

Can you think of another civilized country where teachers were sandals or flip flops to school?

The icons of fashion. I stand by my nylons comment.

Nothing funnier on DCUM than a comfortable shoe thread. Thanks for the laughs. Keep ‘em coming.

OP here and I do agree with this. It’s a fairly new thing in the last 10 years, and I think it’s really disappointing. I’m glad that I’m able to wear jeans, but I certainly do not like that. Some teachers wear leggings and flip-flops.

I don’t wear flip-flops, but I do wear, sandals, and yes, my toes are out!

Great choice! Could totally see those being nicer on and in person, and perfect if on your feet much of the day.
