Drinking water in the dorm, ideas welcome

The constant must-have-water-bottle culture in class is actually very distracting for students (who stop taking notes to drink and refill all the time) and profs alike (CRASH every time one of the aluminum ones falls). They drink so much that they are also constantly leaving to pee. No one needs to hydrate this much unless there are medical problems or extreme heat. Leave the bottle in the backpack and drop the babyish oral fixation long enough to learn, people.

I like the suggestion of buying a Poland spring bottle or water when exiting the dining hall and trying to keep one in his back pack most of the time.

I think his unwillingness to clean things is troubling - it's a basic skill he needs to get over his laziness to accomplish - but I'd keep that as a different issue. You need to harp on this. My 9 year old son is not afraid of doing dishes and getting his own drinks- and he's pretty babyish even for his age.

Maybe it's 'helicopter' but my kid never drinking water would concern me too. Good luck.

DC finished their first year of college last year and never really drank water bc too lazy to wash out bottle when it got gross. One time even said they got sick to their stomach after drinking from it (husband says beer is the more likely culprit). I suggested disposable cups, sorry Mother Earth, but DC wasn't interested. Any alternatives to a water bottle that won't get washed? Glad this forum is anonymous, what a ridiculous question to even post!

What does this mean?

Here’s the thing, you need to wash water bottles, even if drinking just water. Go to REI, buy these https://www.rei.com/product/122917/bottle-bright-cleaning-tablets-package-of-12?srsltid=AfmBOop9cx3ljRgvuTHjygtvox6uTvTA8k20rRgQwHJpdUeaJa_j8rUB

Every few days, have your kid wash out their bottle. Or buy a Brita type pitcher and send disposable cups to use in the dorm room.
