Too bad I am ugly. |
Don't be disheartened, PP. Do you think there are other areas in your skill set that you can excel? They just need to see your worth and sometimes people who think they are ugly make others very happy. |
+1. and many hold (or did hold) dual roles in treasury, so they may also have cash management experience |
ugh gross |
I guess but you know it is more common than you imagine otherwise some of them get replaced easily. |
You don't have to be pretty in this field, just willing to sleep around and please the board. |
Even in IR as a man? |
Bump. Interested in IR at a private equity firm or hedge fund |
HF don't have dedicated IR people. You will do IR and BD together. You have to know the fund performance like the back of your hand - hundreds of numbers throughout fund life cycle. and in the end, you need to get investors to commit capital. Being a pretty party girlie is 5% of the job. No one is going to commit capital just bc you are pretty and know how to party. |
A lot of former investment bankers too - top grades from top school on top of being a good looking athlete. The junior we poached from Goldman was a physics major from Harvard + ballerina. |

Any advice to get into this field? DD is graduating next spring but all these IR Analyst roles at PE firms seem to want 2+ years of investment banking experience.
Given she's not doing IB, what's her best bet of a post-grad job to fill in those gaps or be in the right rooms? |
